The shop replaced the power steering pump for my car. The repair failed and caused built up pressure to ruin the fitting from the power steering pump to the power steering pressure hose. The mechanic tried to make up for the damage by asking me to pay for the the power steering return line which is not leaking. The mechanic refuses to work on the car since we disagreed on what needed to be repaired. I would like a full refund for the damage he caused to the car. The car is now smoking and pouring power steering fluid. When I looked at the car the connection to the power steering pressure sensor was also disconnected from the sensor. This may have caused the car not to know how much pressure it had and it may have caused the car to burst power steering fluid. When replacing the lines the mechanic should also replace the o-rings that ensure the fittings don’t leak. The interior of the car was also dirty full of grease after if got it back. When the mechanic gave me the car the first time after he repaired it, it was not pouring power steering fluid from the o-rings. The car is pouring power steering fluid from an o-ring.

Harrods Creek Auto replaced the power steering pump, missing pulley, and pulley fastener per the customers request. The system was leaking prior to the repair per the customers original complaint. I explained that we would need to install the pump and reinspect the system for any leaks. The technician replaced the necessary components including new gaskets from Toyota. During the post repair inspection the technician noticed that the power steering return hose and the power steering pressure hoses were leaking. The customer was informed of the leaking hoses and that they would need to be replaced. The customer was given an estimate for the replacement of the hoses and he declined the repair. He was advised not to let the power steering fluid get low as it would damage the pump and void the warranty. The customer stated he would repair the hoses himself. The power steering pressure sensor was installed properly and it designed function will not allow it to over pressure the system. If the sensor is not plugged in it is impossible for the system to be over pressured as the information needed would not be sent to the computer.Customer response
