I entrusted the aforementioned company with the repair of a ***** 700R4 transmission for a car I was rehabbing. The company agreed to install a performance shift kit, and a constant pressure valve body. The price I was quoted was $1600, which was not provided in writing. I dropped off the transmission for the above repairs, which took some months to complete. When I was finally notified in April of last year that the transmission work was complete, upon retrieving it, I was charged nearly $2300. The car for which the transmission was rebuilt was still not running at that time as the motor was being rebuilt as well. It was not until during the first quarter of this year, approximately January or February, that the car was finally ready to drive. It was taken only for short trips to fine tune the mechanics of the vehicle, but while the transmission shifted, it did not perform as expected, given the work I had paid to have done on it. After putting only about 200 miles on it, the transmission failed, leaving us stranded on the evening of April 30, 2022. I contacted the company for assistance. However, the owner abdicated any responsibility, stating that the warranty only covered the first three months or ***** miles, whichever came first. Since the car wasn't drivable until shortly prior to the one-year anniversary of the repairs, the so-called warranty had expired before we even drove the car for the first time. This is completely unacceptable, and I am indescribably disappointed in the performance of the transmission, and in the repair shop owner's response.Customer response
