    Additional Complaint Information

    Customer Complaint:
BBB has received several notifications from Louisiana businesses that they are receiving letters asking for $87.25 to receive their "Louisiana Certificate of Status". One business informed us that they paid this fee only to receive a copy of their Secretary of State Registration that they already had a copy of. This same company also sends out letters requesting money for labor posters. The products/services this company claims to provide are not necessary and can be obtained from the LA Secretary of State and LA Department of Labor.

The address the company uses is a UPS Store address. There is no such business registered in the State of Louisiana.

I am new small home-based business owner. Over two months ago, I received a notice in the mail from LA CERTIFICATE SERVICE stating I had one more step for LA certificate status completion. I mailed a check for $87.25 on 5/5/24 to this company. I have not received any documentation from them thus far. Also, I am unable to speak to anyone at this company number ************* It is an infinite recording where you stay on hold waiting for a live person, until you finally give up. I believe this is not a real company, but another scam.

I filed for my LLC for my craft business (******* ** **** ***) on 04/01/2024. I received my approval letter from the Secretary of State. I am now officially registered as an LLC. I thought that was all that was necessary. A few days later I received a letter from LA Certificate Service stating that I to do one more step to obtain my Louisiana Certificate of Status request. It was made to seem like this was a requirement by the State. I sent $87.25 to receive this certificate. Now I am finding out this has nothing to do with the State and my LLC. It is not required by the State. It is a scam. I am in the process of contacting them and trying to get my money back. Any help from the Better Business Bureau would be greatly appreciated. Since filing this I have received three more documents that say I need to send them additional funds. Not happening. Here is the information that was on this document: ******* ** **** *** ***  Document Number: ********* LA Certificate Service 9618 Jefferson Hwy Box 305 Baton Rouge, La. 70809

On or about April 10, 2023 I filed an LLC for my new business **** ***** **********. Upon receiving the LLC I clicked on a link within the states web page that I was on to file the business status to receive a CERTIFICATE with the business name, state seal, etc. I mailed a check for $86.50 to La Certificate Service thinking I was going to get an actual frame ready CERTIFICATE. What I received was a printed copy on plain stock paper that I could’ve easily printed myself on my home printer. I paid the money because I wanted an actual certificate. I want La Certificate Service to either refund the full amount of $86.50 or send me an actual certificate instead of a cheap piece of paper.

I paid LA Certificate Service $87.25 in January 2021. I am now aware that this is fake. I would like a refund and I recently received a renewal from them as well.

LA Certificate Service sent me a letter requesting $87.25 for a certificate of status. I am requesting my refund. Didn't know that this was a scam and these people need to be prosecuted.
