For last year's hurricane, Bailey Construction, put a new roof on our home due to hurricane damage. We paid a deductible of 5400.00 out of pocket and the remaining balance was paid by the insurance totaling a new roof of 11,630.00 paid to bailey construction. Since the roof installment, we have found issues with the roof by other contractors doing other work (gutters) There are rotten pieces on top of the roof in the valleys, I have had correspondence with Mr. ****** back and forth for almost a year with him always guaranteeing his work however he has never showed up to fix the repairs. I last contacted him last week and told him it was my last attempt before going further. I am attempting to go thru BBB first and through the Licensing board. If all else fails and he does not make my roof good, I will in the end seek an attorney.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/09/13) */ We performed a complete roof replacement for Ms. ******** after hurricane Laura. We worked with her and her insurance adjuster to get her roof replaced. Approximately a week before Hurricane Delta we installed the new roof. The roof performed as it was intended to during the second storm however some locations of hip and ridge cap shingles flapped up in the storm causing them to be creased from the repetitive flapping up in the high winds. This repetitive flapping created creases on the shingles which is damage that needs to be replaced. These shingles had not had enough time to seal together in the heat after being installed before the high winds from Delta came through. This being said this damage is not from improper installation and is not a warranty issue, it is roof damage caused by wind. We have informed Ms. ******* that we will be fixing these areas and doing so at no charge to her. The other issue she has is that she has a small area of rotted plywood at the bottom of the valley where the gutter has backed up over the years causing the roof decking to stay wet and rotted over time. This area was not discovered when we did the roof because it was under the valley metal and felt secure when the shingles were removed. The metal valley was left in place as an additional layer of protection from water and we installed Ice/ water shield self sealing 42" wide membrane over the top of the metal all the way up the valley. This is standard procedure in the roof. The problem with the decking at the bottom of the valley was discovered when she had a gutter company come to work on her gutters. After this was discovered she felt that everything we had done on her roof was wrong and had threatened to call the attorney general and the state licensing board on us. We contend that the roof was properly installed and is in good condition, just needs a few repairs from the wind and water damage neither of the two are we responsible for, but we have offered to fix. I am happy to discuss this with anyone. Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2021/10/07) */ This company has never been out to see my roof since the initial so I'm not sure how he can say what is damaged or how it got damaged. The gutter guy insist that the rotting wood was there at roof installation and had to be seen. Bailey construction has STILL not come out to fix the ridge caps or anything else on this roof that they have promised to come fix. They make appt dates and always seem to cancel!! Not sure why you closed this case without seeing into this further as the roof is still not fixed.
