I went to Pendergrass scales in Baton Rouge La. to purchase a NTEP certifiable scale. I ended up getting a Torrey PC series for $325.00 before tax. I seen one in the box that was on the shelf, We went in his office I paid ***** (the owner) with my credit card. He writes a ticket with the name, make, model number and serial number on it, he also put "One new Torrey scale" on the paperwork. I go to leave, and he's grabbing the scale on display off the shelf, which it's NOT brand new in the box unopened. I asked where is the manual? He turns around and grabbed the manual off the shelf, then I say "Wait, I want the NEW one in the box!" He tells me "This is the new one, I took it out the box, and already threw it in the dumpster laughing, and I'm too old to go in there and get it". I was so dumbfounded, I didn't know what to say. I leave and as I'm thinking about what just happened, I'm like NOPE, this is not right! I've never bought anything and the store opens my product and throws away the packaging! I call around to see who else sells this scale, and I call the same guy and realize who I'm talking to, and tell him I want to bring it back because of no box. He tells me he has another new one in the box, I said "No, I just want a refund." He said ok. I get to the store, he is not there, doors locked and not answering my phone calls. My husband calls from a different number, he answers, he's supposedly broke down some where while making a delivery. Try's to tell my husband it's brand new out the box, but clearly you can see it's used. So now, I'm sitting in his parking lot waiting, I will see how long before I get a refund. I will update if ***** honors this.

Let me start off first by saying that I work by myself. I sell, service and in some cases deliver
supplies, to 12 Parishes in Louisiana and 3 counties in Miss. Monday through Friday 7 :30 to
4:00. Because of this I am subject to be in and out of the otfice at any time of the day. The
weighing equipment, TE: Scales, must be NTEP approved and must pass inspection by The State
Department of weighing & measurement. Whenlget a new unit in,I unpack said instrument
verify that it works and will pass the inspector, then place it on the shelf for resell. It is for this
reason I do not sell In box.
Miss Luther came in stating that the state inspector turied her current scale down for not being
NTEP approved. She stated that she was not aware of this rule. I showed her three ditferent
model scales availabie. She pointed to the one I had and said she wanted that model. I wrote her
a sales receipt. She handed me a credil card to pay tor it. I put said scale in her vehicle.
She called backed later saying that I sold a used scale that was scratched, and she wanted her
money back. The next day I heard from her husband saying that she was outside my door, and it
was locked. As said earlier I do Jeave the office at times. This particular day I was making a
delivery in North B.R. when my truck broke down. I had to get a tow truck and a rental which
took several hours. That was the last time I heard from either of them. Then on March 24 while
being online with my bank. I discovered she had disputed the charges; her money was taken out
of my account and was being returmed to her. I called her and she told me when she gets her
money, I get my equipment. She contacted me Saturday 3/26 said she was in town and would
have my equiprnent. I met her and my office got my equipment. Examined it found no scratches
or anything.
