In July of this year, I experienced a burglary in my home to where flooding occurred from a ruptured refridgerator icemaker line. I called my insurance provider and they told me to contact a restoration company to dry the floors. I contacted United Fire &Water Damage. The company put fans in my home to dry the floor and sent my insurance a bill for over $12,000 to do this very simple measure. My insurance paid $6,659.35 for their services. When I received an insurance check for their payment, I immediately called the company to come pick up their check, and they were paid. They were unreasonably upset that they weren't paid their overpriced charge of over $12,000 to dry out my floors with simple fans that occurred over a one-week timespan. So, the company is now trying to sue me instead of negotiating for more payment with my insurance company. They are trying to bully me into paying an inflated bill by sending me an attorney letter demanding that I owe the balance. This company is fully aware that they are overcharging for services and they expect the customer to pay for whatever insurance will not pay for. The attorney letter from them stated for me to send the letter to my insurance provider and that they will sue me for the unpaid balance. It makes no sense that they are wanting me to send a letter to my insurance when they are fully capable of sending their request for payment to my insurance, themselves. I am a crime victim and I am being victimized twice: Once by the burglary, and now by this company. I am asking that this company cease from all threats of legal action against me and to go through my insurance company, as per proper business protocol, if they want more money. They are committing unacceptable and unconscionable business practices by threatening me, the client, with a lawsuit.
