I hired Brownlee builders to build a fence and gates on my property after about a month and a half my gates started to sag and warp, and 1 of the 4x4 posts started to split down the middle. When I asked the owner **** ******** if he offered a warranty, he told me that if I had any problems to give him a call and he would come back out and fix the problems. It's been about 7 weeks (June 4th, 2022) since I first contacted him about the issues, and he has only come back 1 time. All he did was put 4 lag bolts into the post and said that was good enough. He won't answer my phone calls or texts and if he ever does, he always has an excuse. He is more worried about getting new jobs and bringing in the money instead of customer satisfaction.

I hired a different contractor to fix this problem.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept the response because **** ******** ( SMC LLC) is not accepting the financial responsibility of fixing his mistakes. The new contractor he hired pointed out multiple areas that were done wrong. This is unacceptable that if **** ******** wants to make things right I should not be responsible to pay for his mistakes.

There was no warranty on material that was weathered (wood splitting). Although I made several attempts, I eventually went out to fix the 4x4 post that split with no charge. When I arrived on site the client repeatedly made other points as to what was wrong and his exact words "I was going to let it go, but now I want this fixed". I was professional enough to contact a fixing contractor myself and gave the contractor the hone address to fix the situation.

I am rejecting this response because: First after the job was done, I did ask Mr. ******** if he offered any type of warranty on his work, his response was "if you have any issues within the first couple of months call me and I will come fix it". Mr. ******** never made any attempts to come and fix the issues that I had expressed to him instead it was always an excuse as to why he could never schedule me as he promised when I first reached out to him about the gates sagging and the 4x4 post that has split. First excuse was he just hired a new guy to make repairs for him, never saw that guy or any type of contact from Mr. ********. Second excuse was on June 26th, 2022, he said that he car vehicle problems and that he would try to get out my house in the next day or 2 I told him OK that's fine (vehicle problems happen) he never showed up on June 27th or 28th. I messaged him again on July 5th, 2022, telling Mr. ******** that it has been 4 weeks since i first messaged him about the gate and fence issues and that I would like to know a confirmed date of when this will be fixed. He responded saying "trying to head that way this afternoon" and again no show and no call. I messaged Mr. ******** again on 7/15/2022 telling him that it has now been 6 weeks and that he has yet to schedule me like he said he would and if he doesn't contact me, I would file a complaint with the BBB and the Louisiana licensing department. Mr. ******** finally showed up at my house and drove in 4 lag bolts into the post that was splitting (picture attached) and did nothing to fix that sagging gate. Before Mr. ******** left, he told me that he would have his guys out on 7/23/2022 to fix everything else. July 23rd passed, and nobody showed up to make the repairs. At this point it was 7 weeks and Mr. ******** still has not scheduled me for repairs. I did make an attempt reach out to Mr. ******** but no response, so I did take it upon myself to warn other people in my parish (county) of what has been going on with my fence issues and to be aware. After the post is made Mr. ******** calls me and starts off polite and then quickly escalates to yelling, cursing, saying that "I'm not a priority to him" and telling me to shove the 4x4 post up my ass (not very professional) I tried to explain to Mr. ******** that a customer shouldn't have to wait 7 weeks to be scheduled for some repairs. On July 29th I received a message from Evan ******r explaining to me that Mr. ******** had reached out to him and asked Evan to come and make the repairs, Evan showed up at my house and looked over the work that Mr. ******** had done and even Evan ******r said that the work that Mr. ******** did was inadequate and not right, Mr. ******r went on to explain to me that within a year my gates would start giving me problems and that the 4x4 posts were wrong and that Mr. ******** knew better and should have used a 6x6 post to hold the weight of the gates. Mr. ******r gave me a quote of $2,274.00 to make the repairs properly. I did forward the estimate to Mr. ******** asking him how this is going to be financially taken care of and have yet to receive and response to the email. It is completely unprofessional of Mr. ******** to ignore a customer who has paid thousands of dollars for a service when I (the customer) am having issues with the quality of the craftsmanship, even though he claims it to be and "easy fix" or a "rare situation" but in a 7-week time span he can't schedule a customer for repairs.

      Sincerely,

      Scott Lassen

I charged you $6093 for a 243' fence and your getting "charged" $2000+ for a $16 4x4 post replacement and what ever "he wants to make money on". The laugh is on you, good luck on that few hundred dollar fix you was fooled into paying $2000+ for. You are the only customer since 2016 that WILL NOT get $1 back and I'll post for everybody too see. Good luck ??
