STOA used to own and manage the apartment complex where I reside. Notification was made to all residents that rental payments for Oct 1 should be made to the new owner/operator. I removed the previously scheduled payment to STOA and remitted payment to the new entity. However, on October 1 STOA drafted the rental payment (I do not know how many other residents were affected). At no time did STOA notify me of their error or seek to correct it. Instead they decided unilaterally to send a check for all illegally withdrawn funds to Hawthorne for distribution. The information about this decision was not communicated to me by STOA. It took over a week to get a call back from ***** (last name?) who was completely unprofessional and took zero responsibility for the illegal withdrawal. Her attitude was contemptuous and disregarded the legal ramifications of the act committed. STOA retained a legal obligation to return my funds to me and not via a disinterested 3rd party.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/10/20) */ Stoa Group sold the property known as Oasis at Southpark on September 20, 2021 and relinquished management at that time. On October 1st, Stoa Group realized that several rental payments that were previously set up by residents as recurring payments had been processed. At that time, Stoa Group contacted the management at Oasis at Southpark and Hawthorne Residential to inform them of this error and provided a list of residents and amounts processed. It was also discussed that once the funds were cleared, Stoa Group would distribute these funds to Oasis at Southpark and/or Hawthorne Residential on behalf of the residents. On Friday, October 8th, Stoa Group processed the refund and overnighted to Hawthorne Residential with a final list of residents and amounts paid. Hawthorne Residential's accounting department received the funds on Monday, October 11th. Mr. ******** should contact the management at Oasis at Southpark or Hawthorne residential for reimbursement of funds as Stoa Group no longer manages that property or has access to these funds.
