*************************, the owner of Rescue Clean LLC, provided an estimate to insulate our house throughout the crawl space. The estimate was for $18,016.10. I paid him a 50% deposit of $9,008.05. He then eventually came back and said additional extensive HVAC work would be needed. His colleague provided an estimate of over $88,000 for HVAC work with $53,850 supposedly necessary before completing the insulation. At this point I became suspicious that this was a scheme. I got other estimates and was told this HVAC work was unnecessary. So, I asked for a refund on the deposit. He said he would provide a refund. After a 3 month delay, he provided a check for $3974. He said his consultation, the consultation of his HVAC colleague, and a mold treatment he provided under the house, constituted the remaining $5,034. In the meantime, I hired another company to handle the insulation. Their impression was that this mold treatment (which ****** valued at $3121) was unnecessary. He had previously quoted his consultation at $300 and never stated that the estimate by his colleague (which he arranged without my request) would be billed. This means he charged $1,913 for these consultations. In conclusion, I am very disappointed and frustrated with ******'s approach to business and the amount of time I have wasted repeatedly requesting a refund over the course of 3 months. At the very least, giving him the benefit of the doubt on the mold treatment, I think he should refund the $1,913 in consultation fees as his advice proved to be highly dubious. I would also ask that the BBB use this case, if possible, as a way to warn other customers about these business habits.
