Rented an ****** from the owner of this business, Jake **********. The lease we signed for this rental lists Creative Exteriors as the Landlord/business I was renting from. We moved in 5/12/23 and moved out 9/10/23. We paid $1500 deposit which, according to the lease was to be refunded within 30 days of our lease term/move out. I just received the refund check less $250 with no written reason why funds were withheld - which the lease states he is required to do. In consideration that he has been difficult to reach throughout our time in his house, with the many ongoing problems we e while living there, I am not inclined to reach out to him directly, as I don’t feel he would acknowledge my communication. The week prior to our departure I had messaged the landlord and requested a date that he could meet us at the house to do a final walkthrough. I received no response. We went above and beyond during our time living there to ensure his home was properly cared for, paying ourselves for pest control (due to an infestation of roaches and spiders), maintaining the yard, though that was the respond the landlord. I will note that new tenants have now moved into the house on 9/12/23. If he tries to claim damages that I’m responsible for in justifying keeping the $250 of my deposit, I have no way of proving otherwise because he refused to do the final inspection with me, and before the new tenants moved in.

Anna was just the nicest lady when she was trying to rent my place from me and then quickly turned to a very NASTY woman. Anna was very rude, VERY NEEDY, and left my house full of cat hair, all of my plates and utensils were taken out of their places and put in closets, she brought a huge extra refrigerator that severely scratched my floors, her A/C leaked down to my floor, one of the bedrooms her cat stayed in peed all behind the bed and on our mattress, and she talked about her taking care of the yard? Well, she offered but NEVER cut it.  I have pictures of everything she destroyed. I wanted to keep her whole deposit because of her damages but decided to only hold $250 because her husband has cancer and is the nicest gentleman, I really feel sorry for him. The only reason she got any money back at all is because of my wife and her husband. Would never rent to her again, terrible tenant, I really can’t believe she works at a church. She was not a Christian woman when I had to deal with her.

I am rejecting this response because:

My poor sick husband cut the grass weekly during our stay there until the last week due to rain;  even though we were advised that that was included with the rent.  The landlord stated at any time we needed him to come out he would.  I purchased weed control out of our pocket just to maintain the yard while there.  My exterminator came at least 3-4  times during our 3 1/2 month stay, which he can attest to, due to an infestation of roaches and spiders.  Again, money out of our pocket. At first glance upon moving in, the house appeared in order but was not clean. The refrigerator was full of old food, some of which spilled and was stuck inside, which I cleaned just to be able to move in.  There was a musky mold smell which i attempted to address on my own with damp rid and baking soda because the landlord did not want to be bothered by me when I tried to tell him.  In addition to the sewer smell from the rotten floor at the toilet, which he eventually had no choice but to repair.  When the repair people came, they cut the old floor and all the new material in the house, leaving sawdust and debris everywhere.  When I called the landlord to let him know about the mess we came home, again, he seemed to care less.  I had to wipe the entire house down ceiling to floor including all the dishes and groceries- every room that had an open door.  We have gone above and beyond to take care of that house.  I requested in writing for the landlord to meet me for a final walkthrough of the house before the lease expired.  He refused.  He had new tenants move in without a final inspection, which I was entitled to.  The lease also states that it is to proved me with written reasons for keeping any portion of the deposit.  This email is the first I have heard of any issues, and I have seen no pictures.  Now, other people have been living in that house since the day I was due to move out, so how can I even prove that it’s not some one else who damaged his place?  He failed to meet the requirements of his own lease.

      Sincerely,

      Anna Walker

      Good Morning Brielle,

Here are the picture/ video that she requested of her unsupported accusations. Please feel free if I need to prove time stamp of when I did do a final inspection. I also have proof my *** *** messages that she did not clean the place like she said she would, left cat hair everywhere, scratched my

floors, moved all pots, pans, and dishes to the closets, and ALSO didn’t leave the keys to the house where she said she did.

      Thanks,

      Jake **********
