We purchased a used car with #1 Auto Sale on January 25th. On January 27th, the check engine light came on and I called him to let him know. We brought the car to him and he said he was going to change the O2 sensor for us because that's what was causing it to come on. On February 1st the check engine light came on again and we brought it back to him on February 6th. This time he had the car for over a month. He said he had to change the other O2 sensor and that the catalytic converter had to be changed again. I say again because he told us that he changed the catalytic converter prior to us purchasing the car. On March 11th, the car was ready for pick up. I don't have the exact date because I need to look in my call log, but the week of March 13th, the check engine light came on again and this time I told him I was going to bring it somewhere else to see what was going on. He did not seem very interested in helping me like all the other times. We took it to Christian Brothers Automotive on March 20th and had an inspection done. They could not give us a total that day due to a leak that was detected. Dye was put in the car to see where it was coming from and we were told to bring it back the next week but the next day the leak was really bad so we brought it back to them and they kept it. That day or the next, we got the full inspection on the repairs that needed to be done on the car and it totaled to $7322.98. This is pretty much what we paid for the car. I have the inspection photo's and report. We did take out a loan to get the warranty on the car and I'm so glad we did, however it only will cover half of the repairs. I reached out to Brad, the owner on Monday March 27 and he has yet to respond to me. I sent him the report with all the repairs and still nothing. I have not tried to call him, only text which was the way we mostly kept in touch. I don't want to get out of character with him so I just decided to go this route. Any help is much appreciated!

#1 Auto Sales strives to deliver quality used cars at an affordable price. In regards to this complaint, all vehicles are sold 'As Is" and it was clearly stated verbally and documented as well to the customer. A warranty contract for repairs and or service was offered and purchased by the customer. In good faith after the sale, #1 Auto Sales assisted with a service issue several times in attempt to satisfy this customer. #1 Auto Sales could longer assist due to personal negative attacks via text, phone calls and social media.

I am rejecting this response because:

“In good faith” the repairs to the car should have been done prior to the sale. That’s on good faith or disclosing to us what needed to be done. The owner flat out lied to us. Who would agree to pay 8k cash for a car with 7k worth of repairs. We are the ones who had “good faith” bc we trusted what he told us about the car. I have a picture the day I picked up the car, and the date was reset on the vehicle which makes me to believe he turned the check engine light off. He stated several times to us that dealers know how to do this. He played games with his words telling us stuff like that to make us believe he was such an honest guy and not like the rest. There’s no negative text messages which I have proof. There was a phone call made to address information he left out about the warranty and he was told his word was trash… well bc it is, and I left a review of my opinion and my experience with him on social media bc that’s what reviews are for and I would NEVER want him to get away with this with anyone else. All these things were done after the owner told us he would not make any of this right. He even ignored us through text at times. With the price of the car we are $11,500 out of pocket, $2000 more to go to get it in good standing and with $4000 worth of repairs covered for a car who’s trade value is $3950. So who is the victim here? Everything we have said to him and put out there is the honest truth!
      Sincerely,
      ***** *******
