Sometime around Oct. of 2021 I was directed to consult Truck n Trailer of Lake Charles concerning an axle problem that I was having on my Jayco RV by another business here in Lake Charles. I did so and ultimately, several weeks later brought the Jayco to Truck n Trailer to be repaired. While it was there, the driver side rear was damaged. I discovered the damage when I went to pick it up. As soon as I saw the damage, I went to *** ******* the person that I had been dealing with throughout this whole process. He came out to look at the damage with me and acknowledged the damage. I drove from there shop directly to an RV shop called **** ** in Maurice, La. I brought it there for some electrical issues that they repaired for me. I told *** what I was doing and the time frames that would be involved and that as soon as I got it back from **** *** we could deal with the damage issue. He assured me that he would handle it. He did not seem concerned at the time. A number of weeks went by as we had gone out of town and waiting on parts at **** *** When I picked it up from **** *** I drove it straight back to Truck n Trailer. To my surprise, Mr. ****** had not spoken to or done anything about it with his apparent boss, who is the son of the owner. In short, through his sarcasm and rudeness, he accused me of lying and making the story up. He made statements as to how he has cameras and signs all over his yard and that he can not be responsible. I have an estimate from a repair shop to repair the damages and the cost for the repair is just under $3000.00. The cost of the repair for the work at Truck n Trailer was just under$1400.00. I called back later that week and asked who the owner is and the man that I was speaking to said it was his father and I asked if I could speak to his father. I was told that his father was busy, so I asked if he would have his father call me. I was told that he would relay the msg. I never heard back. I will bring receipts and invoices to BBB

      Business response

      04/19/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2022/04/04) */ The customer picked up his camper trailer and paid us on 11-9-21 and was pleased with our work. He said he was bringing it to Lafayette for some other work to be done. About a month later on December 6th he brought the camper back claiming that we damaged his steps. He talked to *** ******* one of our salesmen. *** took pictures, I was out and he let me know about it. The picture is time stamped, so we know that the damage could have happened else were. His claim that he told *** immediately is false. The picture shows date and time he came back with the complaint, which doesn't coordinate with the billing date and invoice. Another month or better went by and he showed up with an estimate to repair the steps demanding that we pay him. I told him that I would look at the camera footage after doing so I spoke with Mr Ryder and explained that we used 2 spotters to pull in for repairs and after pulling out there was no damage done to his trailer. I explained that it did not happen here, also even explored the option that it happened at the other shop or possibly on the road to Lafayette. He was upset and not happy. Also he demanded to speak with the owner, I told him that I am an owner as well as my dad. He wanted to speak with him, I said there is no need to include him in this matter he is 85 and does not need the stress of something that I already handled. I believe he made this claim with you guys shortly after this. We have been in business for 53 years. We wouldn't still be in business if we didn't take care of our customers. We pride our selves in our work and our honesty with customers. We have only had good reports to you guys and nothing ever like this in 53 years. I have included the picture with the date and time to prove that almost a month later is when he first claimed this to us... Consumer Response /* (3000, 14, 2022/04/07) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The first thing I did was inspect their repair which in fact I was pleased with. The next thing I did was go back to my vehicle to back it into position and as I did so I noticed the damage to my RV. I then went back inside to advise *** ****** of the damage. He came out and did in fact take pictures. He was very agreeable with a positive attitude and I advised him that I was in fact taking it from his shop to the RV repair shop and it would be some time before I could return it for their attention. I told him I didn't know for sure how long it would be. He assured me that was not a problem. This is disgusting.
