I have had some frustrations with the home sharing company, Hosteeva. We booked a trip with Hosteeva pre-covid (booked early 2020) for $851, but had to cancel when the pandemic hit. At the time, we were offered a credit with no expiration date, the message with the credit said "Expiration Date: Without time frame". When we tried to rebook over a year later when we were traveling again, we found that the property was no longer available and were unable to find similar properties that were cost efficient. Now, we are trying to use this credit, but have been told that the credit is expired. I called and they said that they sent a follow up email some time later indicating the credit had expired and that "they couldn't keep the credit open for 4 years". I don't have record of this follow up email. When I pointed out that this was a contradiction from the original message I received, there was no response to that- she agreed that the two statements that there was no expiration date but also now is an expiration date contradict each other. When I noted that I do not have that follow up email noting the new expiration policy and I asked for that to be forwarded to me, the person I spoke with said she didn't have it. They did offer me a 15% discount, but we have found that you can book many of their properties directly at substantially less cost than if you book through Hosteeva, so, with even a 15% discount, it wouldn't be worth it- it would be cheaper to book direct rather than through them. I am really frustrated with this company and have a severe distaste in my mouth. I want to warn others to be careful of companies like these who can change policies at their will.
