Extremely poor work quality: The contractor nailed good wood to rotten wood. In some areas there is no support. The cost continues to fluctuate. The job initially cost around $23,000 then it increased several thousand dollars to about $29,000 because they did not complete a detailed inspection before starting the job. I paid before the job started. Once I balked at the new price, they reduced the price a couple thousand $s. I shiver to think how they are taking advantage of customers in *********. When I questioned the quality of work with one of A-1's team member. He stated he was wondering why the team assigned nailed good wood to rotten wood. Regarding the team assigned to the project, I questioned if the guys were legally able to work in the **. The team project manager stated when we asked them, they said they were in the ** legally (I guess they do not use E-Verify). Three out of the four guys did not speak any English and they looked noticeably young like they should be in high school. I believe the pictures will speak for themselves regarding the quality of work. My last conversation with a member of the company was several weeks ago. At the walk thru the project manager became agitated with my concerns. A few days later I received a text message stating they were working on a solution. Yesterday and today, I received a message from the owner (******************* ************) Yesterday he left a message with a vail threat hinting at legal action. Today he left a message stating he would take care of any problem I have. In addition to calling me he just called my spouse who has nothing to do with the project.

      **************:

I have reviewed the drawing by ********************* as to the final placement of the several foundation and framing items installed by our team.  I have reviewed the original contract and addendum, both of which you signed, agreeing to the terms and conditions contained therein.  I have also spoken with our salesman, ******** ********, who has reported that he met with you on Saturday April 9, to obtain payment.  At that time you advised *******************, that you were unhappy with how the new treated floor joists were installed, specifically that they were attached to the existing floor joists rather than installed anew under the existing floor.  This was never contemplated or discussed before the contract was signed and the work begun.  In fact, the contract specifically states that the new floor joists would sistered onto the existing floor joists.  The reason for that is that to do otherwise would require removal of the existing subfloor, do to its decayed nature, and replacement, all at a much greater cost to the customer.   After you expressed dissatisfaction with the floor joists you stated you wanted the job done right.  ******************** expressed that he believed the job was done correctly and in accordance with the terms of the contract.  ******************** then left.  He attempted to call you to set up a meeting during the week that followed the aforesaid meeting.  You did not take that call, nor the other two that he placed to you during that same time period.  ******************** also messaged you three times and emailed you once.  You failed to reply to any of those messages.  ********************* also attempted to call you and e-mail you, to all of which you failed to reply.  I called you as well beginning May 6th.  Your phone went right to voice mail.  I called back thinking that you did not recognize my number, however it went to voice mail again at which time I left a message advising that we should begin conversations to resolve this matter before proceeding to a next step.  I called again today and left a message to no avail.  I contacted your wife as she had been instrumental in supplying the down payment on the work to be performed.  She too did not answer nor respond.  I saw this afternoon that you made a complaint with the BBB and I began the investigation ow which I I advised that I would in a later phone message left for you.

Following my investigations, I was able to draw the following conclusions:  1)  You are not taking my companys calls,; 2) you are refusing any warranty work to which you may be entitled; 3) you are refusing to pay the balance of your contract which is approximately $17,000.00.

Let me be clear, I am willing to listen to your complaints and attempt reasonable resolution, however, without your participation I find it impossible to resolve any issues you may have with my work.  One might also assume that your failure to respond is indicative of there being no legitimate complaint about the work performed but more about not wishing to honor your commitment to pay the for the services provided.

I would expect you to initiate a conversation with me to resolve these issues outside of court.  Your failure to participate will leave me no option but to begin litigation immediately to protect my interests in this matter.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

      ******************:

Let me be clear, you have every right to defend your company and your team. You eloquently did both as an attorney would in your response. The pictures I submitted clearly shows the poor workmanship that went into part of the project. If ******** is honest with you, he was surprised by the poor workmanship as well. We are both professionals and can spend our precious time on far more important task. If you are available Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10 am, you can meet me at the property address to view the work firsthand.

      Regards,

      *************************

Following receipt of Mr. ****** response, I had an occasion to speak with him and we set an appointment for Friday May 17th.  At that time we met at the customers property and in an effort to satisfy his concerns, I agreed to have my men there today to attend to those issues he brought out.  I am of the opinion that this will work out.

      Sincerely,
