***************************** performed a partial roof replacement to our home in August of 2020 and then repaired damage to the roof sustained from hurricane *** in September of 2021. The total cost was $6,800.In February of this year a building inspection conducted prior to the sale of the property revealed severe deterioration to the entire roof resulting from poor workmanship and recommended it be examined by a professional roofer. We contacted ****** who had someone look at the roof a week later. While not accepting responsibility for the roofs condition, their representative did admit that the wrong type of nails had been used and promised a repair estimate.However, when that estimate was not forthcoming and several phone calls were not returned, we contacted Orleans Sheet Metal and Roofing. Their inspector recommended that the entire roof be replaced at a cost of $7,250.00. We then emailed our ****** contact, who finally responded with an estimate of $4,400.00 for repair and $6,800.00 for replacement. Of course, given Juneaus past performance and slow response, we awarded the job to Orleans but attempted to recover the cost by filing a claim against Juneaus insurance.Unfortunately, their policy only covered water damage to other parts of the structure resulting from Juneaus original work on the roof. It seems the only way to protect ourselves would have been by purchasing a performance bond, something one doesnt usually consider when dealing with a company recognized as an industry leader and especially when that company bears the industry name.I then sent a letter to Juneaus owners, arguing that though not legally responsible, they nonetheless bore a moral and ethical responsibility to compensate us for our loss. My letter was ignored.
