It has come to the attention of BBB that Mallo Training Consultants is offering a 2 day course for $100, to be paid in cash only, to receive a Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HazWoper) Certificate of Training.
The course is specifically designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. HAZWOPER 40 Hour is required for employees working on a project consisting of Uncontrolled Hazardous Waste Operation mandated by the Government.
The course attendees are given an Employment Application for Roch Services LLC and a HazWoper Certificate of Training upon completion of the course. It has been reported to BBB that attendees have applied at businesses that require this type of certificate and are told the certificate is fake and cannot be used for employment.
UPDATE 4-13-16:
BBB has spoken to Mr. Malcolm Orgeron Jr. He is OSHA certified to offer training of this manner. Mr. Orgeron has informed BBB that he has not received his seals to put on the certificate. The certificate IS NOT VALID without the seal. Mr. Orgeron informed BBB that once his seals come in, his intention is to get back to the people that took the training to get them a seal or will offer a new certificate with the seal attached. Mr. Orgeron is also offering refunds to those who have taken the training if they wish. They can contact him directly at 504-400-4753.
BBB has been informed that Roch Services will be the staffing company that trainees will be hired through once a cleanup team is needed.
Update 4-29-2016
USDA contacted BBB on April 15, 2016 and stated that there are no bird flu outbreaks that need to be treated.
Update 5-11-16
The telephone number that Mr. Orgeron gave to obtain refunds is no longer reachable. USDA has also confirmed with the BBB that there are no bird flu out breaks as of May 11 2016.
