I contacted Garcia Roofing on or about 27 March inre having a roof leak repaired. On 1- April, they dispatched ****** ********, a company rep, to meet and assess the extent of the work; which was to repair / replace a leaking roof jack. He produced an agreement / estimate for the work which listed a firm price of $1107.40 for replacement of the roof jack and shingles with an added price of $95.00 per sheet of plywood replaced. He stated that a 50% deposit would be required to get me on the schedule. I agreed that the price was fair and signed the document while also submitting the 50% down payment; which amounted to $553.07. The last thing ****** ******** said to me was "the construction manager will contact you in 10-14 days to schedule the repair". On 3- April, I received a call from Mr. ******** telling me there was another document in my email I needed to sign. When I asked him what it was, he said it was just another document. Perusing same, the document was blank save for a 56% increase in price and adversarial legalese that amounted to my paying Garcia's legal fees should we have an unresolvable dispute and need to go into court; subrogation I believe this is called. There was no mention of the work to be performed or the down-payment made 2-days earlier; let alone the prior agreement. When I emailed Mr. ********, he called and gave me a long and rambling treatise with no point. He could NEVER give me a clear and coherent reason for the appearance of the 2nd document; price increase and subrogation aside. At that point, I told him that if green-mail is how Garcia does business, then cancel everything and refund my deposit. I also informed him that if the original document from 1- April had contained the subrogation clause, there would be no agreement. I reiterated canceling the agreement and refunding my deposit. To date, 2- emails and 2- phone calls inre the refund are unanswered. I have filed a dispute with VISA to have the charge cancelled.

We hired Garcia to put in gutters in early September 2023. While we have no complaint of the quality, we did request that one of the 4 down spouts installed be moved to a less conspicuous place. We were told rather quickly they would be happy to make that modification at no additional charge. We were give a timeline of 1-2 weeks. We did not hear back after that commitment and have sent multiple emails and phone calls to Eric and Lydia. We did receive a response later that again committed to come make the adjustment. We have again not heard back. We have sent more emails and phone calls and at this point have been ghosted and it appears there is no intent on making this right.

Hope to never do business with this company again. Started with they came out to give me a quote. 2 days later I approved with no questions or trying to talk the price down. I trusted that from the reviews and commercials I had seen that I made a good choice of company. Get everything set up and then was not able to get an answer from my sales man on when work would start. Finally get told that they are waiting on materials. After almost 2 months I have to keep calling to finally get told someone is going to come measure the roof to get materials ordered. Just wow. Roof gets installed a month later. I was asked if I would be putting gutters up (Whish there were already gutters on the house) and I said yes and the still installed the roof overhanging the gutters so no water made it in them. Fast forward 3 months later they finally come to cut the metal roof back and damage the roof caps doing so. At this point I was never asked to inspect after work was done. They just leave and I am stuck calling to get repairs. The after another 2 months they finally came to remove a cutter clip they installed the drip edge over. And now still have not received any paperwork on warranty or even the receipt for the job. Highly recommend staying away from this company.

Garcia roofing installed a roof on our house the year we bought it. The warranty transferred over to us. During Hurricane Ida, MOST of the roof stayed in tact. We lost two rows of shingles on the back of the house due to improper installation of the starter strip, which has been verified by multiple contractors AS WELL AS GAF, the shingle manufacturer. After speaking with Garcia Roofing multiple times, they have declined responsibility and gave me an astronomical quote to repair the damage. I am asking Garcia Roofing to honor their workmanship and warranty. I would like for them to replace the missing shingles, and correctly install the starter strip around the entirety of the house, which is also installed incorrectly.

Put a new roof on my house in December 2022 colors don't match that claim it's not They're Fault to hire a lawyer and Sue who have made the shingles

      Business response

      01/16/2023

The discrepancy in color brought to us by the homeowner is an issue with the manufacturer and the batch of shingles installed. Garcia opened a claim with the manufacturer to address this issue, but the manufacturer's processes take some time and the holidays have also slowed down the ability to have the claim reviewed as quickly as desired. Though the complaint is an issue with defected shingles, Garcia is working to resolve the matter with the homeowner.

I spoke with the head contractor and discussed that I didn't want them to scratch and bend my gutter cans while they were on the roof. They still caused damage to all of the gutter cans. Also, I tried to get out of the contract when there was an integrity problem on their end. The salesman told me he was going to charge a certain percentage and then switched it up later on. I also gave $6000 for a deposit but wasn't given a receipt until two weeks later. The receipt stated that I paid $5000 which wasn't the amount I paid. After the roof was finished, they sent another guy to put up cement board and he cut it next to the air conditioner unit outside. This caused the unit to not be able to perform as it has done before. I had to pay someone to clean out the unit. Garcia also stated they were going to get the rest of the money from the insurance company, the insurance company sent $6000 and Garcia told me I owe $9000. I spoke with someone from Garcia and stated that whatever money is left over from getting the gutter cans replaced, they will receive.

Customer was involved in a final walkthrough upon job completion and failed to present any issue regarding roof or gutters during this time. Customer found job satisfactory enough to sign off on the certificate of completion. Photos were taken before and after of gutters and there is no damage present. The contract on this job was signed as retail. Meaning half down on signing and remainder paid upon completion. The completion paperwork was signed on 7/25 and Garcia has yet to be paid the remainder of the contract total. Because this job was not signed as an insurance contract, Garcia requires the remainder of the balance to be paid on completion due to customer opting to handle their own insurance. Customer's remaining balance is $9482.87 based on signed contract.

I had roof damage during Hurricane Ida. I had Garcia come out and inspect my roof- they stated I did need a new roof and also new decking. The quote they gave me with the decking included was $33K. I met with the salesperson (Austin Price) I paid out of pocket for shingle upgrade as well as my deductible. Austin told me that if they did the new roof and the decking wasn't replaced we would still have leaks. Austin asked if it was ok for Garcia to reach out to the insurance company to get the decking covered. I agreed on the contracted amount of $33K which included the new roof and decking and stated that I did allow them to try and get the decking covered. I then get an email from Garcia stating that now the price is 44K with the decking included (not the 33K). I did not approve any upgrades ect. They could not provide me with any further information, they told me that I would be reported to my insurer. When I reached out to my insurer I was told Garcia actually tried to get 55K from them, then came back with 44K. Now I get another invoice from Garcia that states I owe 45K. I was told the job would cost 33K and that's what I agreed to. The work that was done was not great, all of the new flashings that were installed had to be redone due to poor craftsmanship. I am willing to pay the 33K that was originally quoted to me.

      Business response

      09/22/2022

The agreed upon amount was not $33K. That was an estimate given couple months prior to the signed contract and included a different (cheaper) shingle.  See attached signed contract.

Insurance missed several things in their scope of work which needed to be supplemented for. Insurance agreed they missed those things and approved the additional funds (supplement). Also since Hurricane Ida prices have been going up every week so insurance companies have allowed companies to supplement based on updated price lists.  Everything we have done here is standard for the industry and the situation.

We will have no further comment as this has been turned over to our attorney.

Garcia completed my roof around 6/08/22 for the amount of $46,515.00. They committed to installing a metal roof on my home. The roof is beautiful, but it leaked twice during heavy rain down pours. The leaks occurred on 6/10/22 and 7/20/22. I have contacted them on five occasions: 6/10/22, 6/24/22 and 7/5/22 to the project manager ***** and 7/6/22 and 7/13/22 to the office in New Orleans. Each time I was told we will take care of it and to this day nothing has been done. I have photos of water in my attic and house. They have never given me a copy of the contract and warranty. On January 28th, I paid a deposit of $6,000 to Garcia Roofing to order materials and schedule a reroof from hurricane Ida. **** ********** the salesman assured me everything was going to be perfect, and this roof was now his "baby". The wait for installation was 6-8 weeks. On april 6th I received a text from ***** stating materials would be brought on 4/26 and installation would occur 7 days later. 5/3 materials were delivered. 5/4 roofers showed up at 5:55 and left at around 3:30. The roof they installed is horrible. Its cut uneven on every side, the ridge is crooked and wavy, the shingles are missing granules, and have tar stains, the shingles also don't match, half of them have a shiny finish. Something was spilled and stained going down the roof, there are nail holes through my fascia drip edge, they bent my gutter, bent the gable top, and it looks like they cut every side of the roof shingles unevenly with a dull tool, and the proper overhang is not there. ****** the project manager came out on 5/7, didn't care about my concerns, and didn't agree with them. When asked, he said he would be happy with this roof job. I am not happy. The crew did not put anything down to protect from nails, and I'm still picking the nails up myself. I have a gravel driveway, they didn't cover it at all, and I haven't been able to park in it. I called **** on 5/7 to let him know I wasn't happy, no answer, I sent him 6 pictures of the roof. I received no response. He and ****** were supposed to meet here at 9 am this morning 5/9 but neither showed. I called ***** no answer) and received a text message stating sorry he couldn't make it today. I called ***** at the office, and am now waiting on a call from ********* ********* supervisor. I would like someone who knows what they are doing to come and look at this roof. I would also like the nails removed from my yard and driveway. The roof needs to be redone. They have not completed the job, the chimney flashing is waiting to be replac

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/20) */ Garcia Roofing has been in contact with customer and made site visit since filing of complaint. Upon review from field management, it was decided that the shingles installed on the roof are defective. A claim was filed with the shingle manufacturer, Certainteed. A representative with Certainteed has informed Garcia that the claim would be approved. When the claim has been processed, Garcia will make arrangements to replace the roof, and address all other accessories during the replacement. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/05/25) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I'm waiting to hear back from ***** to let me know when the materials will be ordered & the job redone. I asked for the claim to be subrogated, I did not want to wait months again, so he was going to talk to his supervisor and get back with me. That was on 5/19. It's 5/26 and I'm still waiting to hear back from *****. He did agree that the job was subpar and the shingles look defective. After looking in the attic, there are decking boards cracked in half, many of the hurricane brackets are missing, and they covered most of the ridge vent with the rain /water shield, so there's no ventilation & it's really hot up there. I really hope they make this better quickly. Side note, they also damaged my fascia & drip edge, & bent my gutters in 3 places. Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2022/06/06) */ Material to replace those that were manufacturer defective have been ordered and homeowner has been made aware. When materials arrive, Garcia Roofing will communicate this with customer and move forward with scheduling date for the replacement to be completed. Consumer Response /* (4200, 14, 2022/06/07) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I was contacted on Wednesday 6/1 to ask if someone can pick up a few of the defective shingles. I asked why wasn't this done 2weeks ago when you were out here and agreed they looked defective. I didn't get an answer. Garcia roofing wants me to wait for the claim to be completed, then they would order the materials. I wanted the claim subrgated as I bought the roof from Garcia, not certainteed. Finally after requesting to speak to *****'s supervisor, he agreed that he would order the materials. That was almost a week ago and he said it would take approx. a week to receive the materials. I also have damaged fascia w/dripedge, a damaged gutter, and damaged decking boards in the attic. Also, about 30% of my hurricane brackets in the roof are gone after their job. I just how they make all of this right. Business Response /* (4000, 17, 2022/06/17) */ Weather permitting, the roof replacement is scheduled to take place 6/20, with material delivery being 6/17. All other accessories will be addressed during roof replacement 6/20.

My roof was replaced by Garcia on October 8, 2021 with a 50 yr material and 25 yr workmanship warranty. The roof has leaked multiple times in the same area since the install. Multiple employees from Garcia have come to inspect the roof and do some repairs. I have written the President of the company about my issue and received no response. I was assured last time (February 2022) that the problem had been found and remediated. On April 14, 2022, the roof leaked again in the same area. This time the leak not only damaged the ceiling but also damaged the wall and a bed/bedding. The contractor said he would send a "repair guy" the following week. As of today, there has been no attempt to schedule a repair time. This issue has been going on for far too long and is causing increasing damages to my home.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/09) */ Garcia Roofing has contacted the customer and will be out to inspect the roof on 5/12. Our findings will be documented in this complaint. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/05/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The inspection did occur on 5/12/2022. The inspector explained the new drip edge does not drip in the gutters in some areas and does reach the edge of the roof line, one of the new plumbing stacks is defective and the new flashing near the patio cover isn't long enough. The inspector said someone would come make the outdoor repairs in 1 hour. Someone hammered on the roof for a few minutes but I didn't get an update on the repairs. A ladder was left in the driveway. I contacted the branch manager at the end of the business day on 5/12 and have not heard back. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/05/23) */ As of 5/23, repairs to pipe boot have been made. Garcia left voicemail with customer to ensure that repairs are satisfactory.
