My roommates and I had moved into our apartment at University Crossing this past Saturday, and the entire experience has been pitiful. We had to be at a the apartments at 9-11 am in order to get our keys, which we still have yet to recieve, and the second we got to the apartment complex, they instantly tried moving us into a different apartment because “They had some stuff come up,” but after we told them the apartment they tried to move us into was unlivable, had no A/C, and still had the previous renters belongings inside, they then said that the first apartment we were supposed to live in was unavailable because there was a squatter who had been living in the apartment for a month. University Crossing refused to remove the guy from the bedroom, so we as renters had to go in our own apartment which we had paid for a month ahead, and remove the guy from the apartment which had also been assigned to us close to a month ago. After the squatter was removed, they allowed us to move into our rooms, and it was an even bigger let down. The carpets were covered in stains, reeked of weed and cigarettes, had holes in the floor and walls, broken appliances, and a front door that had a broken frame and wouldn’t stay closed unless dead bolted. We have only received one key to the apartment for 4 roommates after 4 days, when they said we were going to receive before we moved in. Even calling up to their front office is no help because their managers are always “unavailable”, “not here”, or they will just not even answer your call.

On 12/16/2021, I signed a renewal lease with university crossing apartments. I was promised $300 dollars in concessions upon renewal. It has been over a year at this point and I still haven't received a penny of this concession I was promised. Furthermore, starting in October of 2022, I've been charged extra fees in rent for "back pay due to a third party utility company not charging the correct amount on people's rent in 2021". However I only lived in my apartment for 2 months in 2021, and I was charged for utilities and fees at that time and paid the fees. I've paid over $300 dollars in these "back payment" fees, when I never owed anything to begin with. I've reached out several times over this and haven't gotten any resolution so I'm filing a complaint with the better business bureau.

The other day (within the last 2 weeks) he received a charge in his residental portal for Wastewater for $170. It just appeared out of no where. They said they was kind enough to break it into 3 payments of $71.62...that math doesn't calculate. That adds up to $214.86. Then today he gets an email saying his account is overdue and he may get evicted. It is not overdue. The only charges they have in there is the above mentioned $71.62 (which they said wouldn't be due until Nov) and they have already added the November charges for water, electric and etc...IT IS NOT NOVEMBER YET!!!! Has anyone else heard about this wastewater charge? My son and his roommates were told that EVERYONE got this charge and was going to have to pay it. I have seen where people received bogus charges upon moving out. I am scared of what will happen next year when it is time for him to move. Seems like everytime we turn around they are charging for something with no warning or explanation. If you try to call them they don't answer.

Our daughter recently moved from one apartment to another in the same complex of University Crossing Apartments. After she moved into her new apartment, we received notice for her old apartment that we were getting billed for some water/sewer utility for $179.06 and that every occupant in the complex will be billed for this. This is the explanation..........."After a delay in billing, we wanted to let you know a balance of $179.06 will be added to all move out accounts for Water & Sewer Utilities. Similarly, all renewal accounts will be assessed a balance of $35.81 per month in addition to your normal monthly Water & Sewer billing through December to account for this $179.06 due". We ended up paying it because if you don't pay it within 30 days, they will report it to collections, and we are in the process of buying a new house and don't need anything negative on our credit reports. We filled out their so called Google dispute form but received no response from them about this bogus charge. We also filled out the dispute form for a cleaning charge of $35 for cleaning of the bathroom, which we cleaned thoroughly and even had pictures to prove it. No response from anyone from the apartment complex, and we filled out the dispute form twice. We still do not have any credit or correspondence from them on the bathroom cleaning charge. When you call them, they refuse to talk to you about any disputes and tell you to fill out the Google dispute form, which seems useless at this point. We were able to get an email for the manager but he did not respond at all to us about these charges. And the people at the front desk won't provide a direct phone number for the manager, and even told u that he doesn't even work in the office, he works from home. The manager's name is Jonas Augustine. Our daughter is currently still staying there as we signed a new lease for another year, before all of these bogus charges came to light, therefore we are unable to break our lease.

The apartment in question was occupied by my daughters ******* and ********* ******. The apartment number I believe was ****** and ******* When departing University Crossing the apartment we rented was visually inspected by a member of the University Crossing Staff. After the visual inspection, we were informed that the apartment was exceptionally clean and we should not expect any billing for additional cleaning/repair etc. We spent no less than 12 hours cleaning the apartment to include bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, and living areas. All carpets were shampooed, and vacuumed, all bathrooms were scrubbed down, swept, and mopped, and all appliances were scrubbed down/cleaned including the refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, microwave, washer, and dryer. The apartment was not only thoroughly cleaned but was cleaner than it was when we first took possession of the property. Secondly, they claim there was a delay in billing for water and sewer utilities resulting in an overall after-the-fact charge of $258.12. I find this difficult to believe and it should be thoroughly investigated. As a military veteran, I have personally out-processed from base housing on a number of occasions and know exactly what it takes to have a residence in inspection-ready order. This apartment was in PERFECT order and immaculately cleaned from top to bottom. There should have been no charges related to cleaning/repair. My belief is that regardless of how clean and maintenance-free you leave one of their apartments, they throw on a charge anyway. If needed, I can provide the email received from University Crossing and copies of the charge memo. Of course, University Crossing should be able to provide those to you as well and should be made to provide those documents. You have my permission to request said documents from them.

My son lived in these apartments for one year. Upon move out we received our "final" utilities bill and he cleaned. A little over a week later someone told him to check his account. They had charged $550. $179 of this was for sewer bill and the remaining was "damage" charges. We took photos before moving in and after he cleaned. Through a college Facebook page I came to realize that anyone with kids who lived here before or moved out now had these charges. Specifically the $179 sewer charge which I'm not sure how every single person has the same exact sewer bill. I feel like this company is trying to take advantage of these college kids.

Signed lease for an apartment at University Crossing for 8/2021-7/27/2022. Turned keys in on 7/6/22 and did a walk through to check out of apartment with Ellen. She filled out checks out form stating everything was ok in room . Now that we are out and have no access to apartment we are being billed for damages and unclean apartment which are false claims . Also being billed for utilities for a year when we paid them monthly and received a final bill statement for May , June and July which were paid in full . They have a billing service that also stated bill have been paid in full . They are scamming everyone that moved out with bogus charges and we can't go to apartment not to defend ourselves against these charges .

University Crossing of Ruston mischarged me for rent ($775), double charged me utilities ($170), and charged a fee that they said they would not charge me ($350). All totaling $1,309.00. I called and emailed ***** Augustine about the price and told them that the price was wrong and I would not pay until they fixed it. I was charged late fees making my total $1,399.00 and paid them because they would not change the price and i could not afford more fees. They told me that i could not buy out of my lease, couldn't terminate it early, and that I was required to find someone to takeover my lease. When I found someone to takeover my lease, i had the person email University Crossing and she sent me a screenshot where ******* Niete disclosed the INCORRECT price of my rent and offered her a new lease at a discounted price. She is no longer taking over my lease and accepting their offer. During my previous lease, my roommate and I have had MANY issues with them not maintaining the apartment, coming into the apartment unannounced, and neglecting our well-being as tenants. There have been countless life-threatening events on the property, such as a man wandering through the complex knocking on doors with his gun, another man shooting around the complex to hit someone, and parties where many drunk drivers almost hit us as we walked to our apartment building.
