I moved into Summerfield Estates on or around June 1, 2023, and resided there until October 31, 2023, I paid $1810 for a studio apartment, which included three meals a day and was supposed to include light cleaning, which I never received. Summerfield Estates is a glorified nursing home with residents taking care of other residents. While I was there, a schizophrenic man was living there. He sat out by the bus stop, talking to people no one could see but himself. Another resident had to do his laundry. Another resident was deaf and unable to communicate. Other residents took care of him. There is one maintenance man for the whole facility. It is a a very disorganized place. Residents were not able to use the activity room due to management having their meetings in the activity room instead of in their offices. There were confrontational incidents in the dining room in full view of other residents. The final straw for me was a bomb threat on September 26, 2023. I lived on the third floor and we were not notified of the incident. There was no meeting to explain what had happened until a week and a half later when manager Kay ******* had a 15 minute meeting with the residents explaining that the resident who had made the bomb threat was now in jail. However, it was well known that the man was out on bond. The activity director is very disorganized and is usually late for activities with residents filling in for her. The manager was a former property manager and had no experience working with retired persons. There was a resident there who had shot a law enforcement officer and had to wear an ankle bracelet. I have written a letter to KTBS Investigates. People need to know about this place before they move in. Don't be mislead by their website or by flags out in front of the establishment. I am not the only former resident who had a bad experience there. I am sincerely thankful that I no longer live there.
