April 7 was charged $470 on my credit card over the phone for a 10 yd dumpster with Dumpsters R Us, told to fill to 1 ft of top, call for pick up. I explained I was renovating a bedroom and cleaning basement. ******** was picked up a few weeks later. On May 7 I noticed a $1920 charge from Dumpsters R Us on my credit card, I never received any invoice for this and was perplexed, as I had already paid over the phone the $470. I called, was told that the dumpster was overweight, 11+ tons. I had no idea what the staffer was talking about, overweight was never explained to me when I called and paid. I would have to knock down my whole house to have that much I said, that equates to ***** pounds. I told him must be someone else's dumpster, not mine. The staffer on the phone suggested maybe someone put stuff in my dumpster without my knowledge. I said no, I saw all that was in there before pick up, some scrap wood, closet doors, basement household items. There were no heavy items in my dumpster, no cements, no tile, no brick. I consulted with an engineer who explained that there was no way a ***************************************************** it, would weigh in at ***** pounds, its mathematically impossible, that 4 to 5 thousand pounds was maximally possible. When I called and told Dumpsters R Us I was skeptical, explained what engineer said, then they sent me a contract, in very fine print on a 2nd page there is talk of overweight charges, and a weigh in slip, but, there is no way for me to know whether the weigh in slip was actually my dumpster. The overweight charges do not pertain to household items according to fine print, which was majority of what was in dumpster. I sent a follow up email, with no response. I have called 3 times over last month asking to discuss, asking for a manager and asking for a call back from a manager. I have received no calls back, always told manager is out and was given my messages. I would like the $1920 charge reversed.

I see that you ordered at 10 yard 1 ton dumpster that you did pay for on April 7th. I also see that your dumpster was removed on 4/30 and weighed ***** tons, which we prorate per our terms and conditions to the nearest half ton, so 12 tons. So you weighed 11 tons over the allotted weight per the dumpster you ordered. I have the dump slip showing the weight of the can from the dumping facility as well the truck route from that day showing the truck went from your home straight to the dumping facility. These were sent to you in an email per your request. Per our terms and conditions, we are at a rate of $175 per ton over, so you had 1 ton can you, so you were changed for 11 extra tons at the rate of $1,925. Our terms and conditions are a part of the delivery slip and are openly posted on our website. We have already paid the cost of dumping the dumpster to the dumping facility. I would be happy to provide the proof we have that this in fact your dumpster.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

[You must provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.  If you do not enter a reason for your rejection, your complaint will be closed as Answered.]

Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.

1=The weigh slip does not have a signature of the driver or weightmaster, the signature areas are blank. Additionally, my name and address appears to be hand written on the slip after it was printed. The dumpster at my home was picked up after 1 PM, yet the weigh slip says it was dropped at the dump site at 1:05 PM. That would be impossible, my home is 30 minutes from the dump site.

2-The email with the terms references 175 a ton for overage for construction type debris, 75% of the items in the dumpster were household basement clean out. 25% a few doors and door frames from closets in a bedroom that was being renovated to expand closet areas. So, how was it determined that the material in my dumpster was all construction material?

3-I attached emails between us, the weigh slip, and a matrix of the weight of different items from construction to concrete, to household. There were no cement, concrete, bricks, tile, or any heavy type material in my dumpster that would constitute 12 tons. The most my dumpser would weigh by science/math based on the matrix is no more than 4-5 tons for the size of the dumpster and the items I put in it.

      4. I never received any invoice or notice of an overweight dumpster, I discovered the $1925 charge when my credit card was charged.  That is just wrong.

      I request a refund immediately.

      Regards,

      ********

I rented a dumpster for the amount of $455 for 1.5 tons for 2 weeks. ******** was picked up and then my credit card was charged an additional $82.50 with no warning or invoice. When I contacted them and inquired about said extra charge they finally sent an invoice and informed me paper work they sent was wrong and it was wrong and it should've been $455 for 1 ton. I would like my $82.50 back as this is false advertising

      *********,
First off, we would like to apologize for the confusion and any inconvenience. To clarify what happened on our end. Our customer service representative sent you your confirmation email in which they accidentally typed in the wrong tonnage and price for the dumpster you ordered. We offer two different tonnage options for our 10-yard dumpster. You ordered a 10-******-ton dumpster for $455, what was written in the email was that they were getting a 10-yard 1.5-ton dumpster for $455, Which was incorrect our 10-yard 1.5-ton dumpster are $495. When we picked up your dumpster it was a half-ton overweight. Based on the 10-****** ton dumpster you order, and our system rounds it the near half ton which triggered the overage charge. I understand the confusion and we want to honor what was sent to you in writing. We have credited the overweight charge of $82.50 back to your credit card. (See attachment) Again we apologize for the confusion and hope this clears things up.
      Thank you
      Dumpsters R US
