We contracted with John's Landscaping for lawn care: seeding, fertilizer and aeration. The estimate for the work was $395. The work was performed in early May 2023. The results were unsatisfactory due to workmanship problems, please see the attached email copy and picture. The picture was taken about one month after the application of the fertilizer, but the uneven pattern of fertilizer application did not disappear even for several weeks afterwards. The business ignored our email and kept sending bills and late fees. There was finally an email reply from the business on Sept 12, 2023, but no offer to resolve was described. We paid $200 as a proposal to settle the bill considering the workmanship issues.

      Business response

      10/22/2023

I responded to the client on 9/21/23 with the following email ---  A screen shot is attached as well.  I did not receive a response from the client.Email to client:I looked into this.  My office manager did respond to your wife’s original email that referenced the picture because it was not attached.  Unfortunately, your wife’s response with the picture got caught in SPAM and she never viewed it – see belowand that’s most likely why it slipped through without a response. Moving forward though, I looked at the picture now and I don’t see any issues within the picture.  Aeration is not typically a uniformed line as a lawn cut would be.  They can seem “random” if you’re looking at it that way.    Some areas may pull a bigger plug than others.  I don’t really understand the questioning of the seed or fertilizer applications.  They are done with a broad leaf spreader and were applied to the whole lawn.  You may have seen a heavier amount on a turn vs a straight away or something like that but the full application was applied.  Honestly it would be tougher for the crew to do half and area vs the full area.  If there were any inconsistencies with the application you may possibly notice them weeks after but not on same day.  How is the lawn looking today?A $200 cut is not reasonable and unfortunately we cannot accept that.Happy to have a call if you would like.Regards,John TighePresidentJohn's Landscape Service, Inc.

      Customer response

      10/27/2023

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.  I am not satisfied with the business's response.  It is really too late.  The lawn treatment was applied by the business in early May, several weeks later in June I complained about the results of the uneven fertilizer application and other problems.  Although the business's spam filters deleted my photo, there is enough description in my email text for them to respond back to me with a plan, schedule a look at the lawn, etc., but that did not happen.  The response submitted by the business dated September had no resolution details, and is much too late to address a lawn problem that occurred the previous May-June. I later in July sent a mailed copy of my complaint to the business with a hard-copy picture of the lawn, with a $200 payment.  Again, no acknowledgement by the business or reply to that.By their own admission, a few weeks is sufficient to show that fertilizer is not applied evenly.  My communications in June are well within this time frame.I have since been taking care of the lawn myself, and it is looking good right now.  I am disappointed to not have the opportunity to work with this business and have a professional take over my lawn care, but it is too late for them to come back and do supplemental work to correct the original problem.  All we can do now is reduce the bill to a fair amount, which in my mind is half or the $200 already paid.  Thank you for your time. Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.
