Company quoted $2,375 to fill, level, seed, and fertilize an area of our yard that had been cleared of brush and trees this Spring, as well as clear out 1 remaining tree trunk portion and 3 piles of wood chips from ground tree stumps. This work was completed on 5/27/22. On June 16, after having avoid walking the newly seeded area for a few weeks, I noticed areas of the newly installed loam shining in the sun. Upon further inspection, pieces of broken glass were discovered as the source of the shimmering. Upon closer inspection, >100 pieces of glass, plastic, and ceramic debris are in the loam that was installed. This is just on the surface level, and there is plenty left both on the surface, and under the surface, that has yet to be identified and removed. I have yet to pay the $2,375 invoice, as it has represented my only leverage to get the debris-filled loam removed from my property. ***** Landscaping has offered to remove it for $1,200. As far as a resolution, I have requested a detailed invoice, but have not received one. I would like to pay ***** for the removal of the tree ************ chips, as that was successfully completed. However, all remaining work that was agreed to has been compromised by the polluted loam, as the seed and fertilizer was placed in it. I would like to pay the company for the successfully completed work, and have them fully remove the loam, as the broken glass represents a major health hazard in my yard. Getting this done in a timely fashion is paramount. I will find another company to then complete the job that I wanted ***** to accomplish in May, which was to fill/grade/seed/fertilize that area. Attached are photos of the area, some closeups of glass found in the lawn, and a photo of some of what's been removed by me thus far.

As the customer stated, May of 2022 we completed a project which involved , removing a large tree trunk, repurposing wood chips, and adding loam/seed/starter fertilizer to the desired sections of lawn. The loam had been bought and delivered to the property several days before the job by a local material yard. During the process of spreading the loam, we did not come across any debris or glass in the loam. If we had seen any such items in the material we would have removed this on site. After the customer brought the debris to my attention, I contacted the material yard from which the loam was purchased and showed them the pictures. They responded with saying that this does happen due to the size of the debris being able to make it through the screening process when the loam is made.

I have given the customer several different options to choose from. All of the options that he was given involved canceling the original invoice and included a fair price for the new proposed work. The first option was to come back in the fall and apply new top soil along with re seeding and new starter fertilizer. The second option, was to removed the loam that was installed. The third option was to come back to the property, removed the loam that was placed and have new loam installed that the customer has inspected and approved. The customer is not willing to compromise on his end.

The issue is with the loam that was provided. This does not take away from the Equipment onsite that day, the labor included, or the seed and starter fertilizer that was installed.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

The attached email chain provides full context, particularly in regard to my willingness to compromise.  In short, ***** Landscaping successfully completed virtually no elements of the job they were hired to do, and left a difficult to resolve safety situation in my yard.  A detailed invoice, to better break down these costs, has yet to be provided.  I believe that the proposed remedy, at a cost of $1,200 unfairly passes on the cost of his vendor's mistake on to me, the consumer.  I'm not expecting any part of this job to be completed (i.e. filling, grading, seeding & fertilizing) without providing payment.  However, I'm not asking for any of this to be done at this point.  I simply want the dangerous materials deposited in my yard to be fully extracted, at no cost to me, as it is decidedly not what I hired this company to install on my property.

Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.
