Went to Harpin's to have my car fixed spoke to the mechanic on site **** who scanned the car for a check engine light that was on. Left the car with him for a few days so he could check it and diagnose the problem on the third day he called and said there could be a distributor issue whether it was defective or something else that I should contact the place I had the distributor put in and have them give me a new one so he could put in and try it out then he went to go check the car out again and try the parts he ordered for it. He called me back 10 minutes later said the car is running beautiful no issues and the check engine light was off with the ignition coil and igniter module he installed. He never told me the cost or asked me if I wanted the parts installed I went down that afternoon to pick up the car he told me it would cost $619.12 and assured me the car was fixed and wouldn't have any other issues 2 days later the car stalled out in the middle of the road and the check engine light came on took the car back to him, a few days later he took the car for a few more days to check it and called 2 days later and said the computer needed to be replaced that this was the thing that was causing all the problems "the last piece of the puzzle" and said it would be another $150.00 so I said ok and went to pick it up that afternoon because I believe it to be fixed! The next day it stalled out in the road again and wouldn't start and had all the same symptoms from before I brung it there including the check engine light being on so I paid $769.12 for the same car I had when I first bought it there! Went to ask for my money back all they said was we put a lot of work into this car and electrical parts are non refundable which they never told me, and isn't printed on the receipt! I would like a full refund!

This issue was already resolved. This customer has complained to multiple agencies all telling her there was nothing they could do. She had this car towed here multiple times and everytime we got it runnning for her and fixed the issue it had. it is a 1995 ******* Problem is with a cheap thirty year old car is things will continue to go wrong with them. When it comes to the distributor she brought her own part in. This vehicle was not a usable running vehicle and everytime it came in our mechanic put many extra hours in to fix it that he didnt charge for because he felt bad for her wanted to help her the best he could. No other mechanic wanted anything to do with it and he didnt want to shut her out as well. Its dissappointing to see that no matter how many times we tried to help her and how many ways we tried to help her, she doesnt understand her car is very old and no matter what mechanic took it in it was going to continue to have the problem.

I am rejecting this response because:

The business never fixed my car or offered any refund and in there response was all lies my car was never towed there, and it's a 1996 ****** not a 1995 if they don't know who their customers are or the year of the car how can they fix it properly.

      Sincerely,

The Customer supplied HER OWN COMPUTER. If a customer brings us a part that we didnt supply it is not warrenteed. As you can see on the reciepts the correct year is written on the reciept for the parts we did supply being the ignition coil and module which would be warrenteed if that was the issue. If that check engine light on her dash was dealing with the ignition coil and module it would have been, but she needed a new computer and thats what we did given what she provided us. This car is a 1996 and when cars get to be almost 30 years old they can expect them to have one problem after another, but that doesnt mean whoever touched it last didnt fix it right. Just means old cars have a lot of issues and we should not be liable for a car that could be registered as an antique especially if we dont know where they got the part from.

      Complaint: 21401692

I am rejecting this response because:

They are still not admitting they did anything wrong and still lying!

I never brought no computer down there more lies, **** bought the computer at the junkyard and installed it because he said "that was the last piece of the puzzle" to get the car running and then it stalled out again the next day!

He just keeps putting random stuff in the car turning off the check engine light and saying it's fixed this is a con artist trying to make money!

He even put it the wrong ignition control module the check engine light was scanned at auto zone and it says it's malfunctioning!

Over 90% of cars are the road are 1990 to 2010 if you don't work on older cars put a sign on the front window of the business.

The car is not fixed so you owe me $769.12 and your mechanic is not capable of fixing the car so that's your fault not mine he was told multiple times to take the parts and refused so you will have to cover the cost then.

      Sincerely,
