On Nov. 14 I purchased two Binax Now with EMed for travel test kits from Meenta, intending to use them to test on Dec. 16 to be cleared to go on a cruise. When the tests arrived, I stored them as directed and never even looked at the boxes. The morning of Dec. 16 we log on with Binax and are told that the tests are expired and no longer valid. They expired on Sept. 6. Meenta sold me two tests that were already beyond the two-month window and at no time was I warned that the tests they would send must be used by Dec. 6 to be valid at all. Had I known that I would have obviously known they were not good for a Dec. 16 test for a cruise. I immediately sent Meenta customer service an email, which was not replied to. Upon my return from the cruise I submitted the issue to their site and called the customer service number. I was not allowed to speak to anyone. I did get an email back saying that they merely sell the tests and they are not responsible. My issue is that they are directly responsible. They sold expired tests and did not notify the buyer that the tests being purchased were already expired. That is not Binax Now's fault that Meenta sold the expired tests. I demanded a refund, after sending email pictures of the box date, and have been ignored. I threatened to contact BBB since I lost $100 and am doing just that right now!

First I would like to tell you we have not heard from this customer at all, so we have not been given the opportunity to resolve it.

Second, the kit she purchased in November has an extended expiration date approved by the **** The expiration date is 6 months additional. Please see attached letter. Therefore the kit is still valid.

Please let us know if there is anything else you need from us to resolve this dispute.

      Thank you

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.   I have documentation of several emails and calls to the company.  For them to say they have never heard from me is an outright lie. I have emails from Dec. 16, Dec. 26Jan. 4, Jan. 12, and late January.  I have a specific contact name at Meenta, too: *******************************.  Obviously, I will get no resolution, but I would like BBB to be aware of the shady practices of this company!

[You must provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.  If you do not enter a reason for your rejection, your complaint will be closed as Answered.]

Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.

      Business response

      02/24/2022

We appreciate the opportunity to share the timeline of our communication with our customer *********************. ************** placed a ********************** order on Nov 14, 2021 of two Covid test kits. She mentioned on her first documented Customer Support phone call on Jan 17, 2022 that she had opened her Meenta package on Dec 16, 2021 and asserted that Meenta sold her expired test kits. Our Customer Support Team responded on the same day of her call Jan 17th, 2022 educating ************** of an extended expiration date given by the manufacturer for the usage of test kits. We have let ************* know that she is able to perform the tests she purchased up to the extension. From the original expiration date, the test kit was approved by the *** for an additional six month extension giving customers the appropriate time frame to use their tests. Our Meenta Customer Support team is available to respond to customer inquiries and it was unfortunate that we did not hear from ************** sooner to resolve the matter. We publish alerts on our website letting customers know of upcoming expiration dates as well as this message within the check-out process: Check your kit expiration date upon receipt. Using expired test kits is not recommended because they may provide inaccurate results.

Meenta is a third party distributor of a diverse menu of at-home tests and therefore independent from expiration dates determined by testing manufacturers.

We appreciate our recent conversation with the BBB and have provided supporting documentation of the extension of the expiration date. We welcome opportunities to improve our customer satisfaction and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Please let myself or ******* know if you need additional information.

      Sincerely

      Meenta Customer Support Team
