My husband thought it would be a great idea to customize my engagement ring and band from Gemvara. He purchased 14K white gold rings with Sapphires because he knew I did not like the idea of diamonds. The ring looked at the moment gorgeous. Yet, 5 years later with me only wearing my ring for special occasions not to work, not to the gym or anything that would damage it but now with little wearing time the gold is molded, the bracket my center stone sits on is bent and most stones are cloudy. I went to a jewelry just for him to have a look at it and he said he had never seen a hood ring bend like that after only a few years and in so many places where it would be hard for anyone to damage on. He told me its probably not all real gold and a mix of sorts. I contacted Gemvara and they told me I would have to pay for the repairs myself and it was out of their 1 year warranty and they stand by their craftsmanship. I let them know their craftsmanship obviously good without quality products they are making their rings with. Its a real shame.

We offer a one year warranty on the craftsmanship of each of our pieces. Damage done to jewelry, especially after 5 years of wear, is not covered by this warranty. We stand by our craftsmanship and the quality of materials used by our expert jewelers.

Im writing this review and am sad. I had a beautiful ring from Gemvara. I searched high and low for the right setting and style and found it. Initially beautiful with a 1.3 carat diamond and heavy 18K rose gold band. I had 2 other bands that were also rose gold that I took to a jeweler that has been doing business for 50+ years. They are highly reputable and took my rings and planned to solder together. I get a call from the jeweler stating in his 30 years of doing this job hes never seen a ring crack and fall apart. My entire band cracked in at least 10 spots. Of course Ive had the ring 14 months and there is no longer a warranty and Gemvara is washing their hands of the situation. The local jeweler said the ring when it was molded did not get cast right leading to this damage. I am heartbroken but luckily the local jeweler feels so bad they are recreating my ring at their cost because they are good people. I will never buy another item from Gemvara or Silpada ever again. Shame on them- such a disgrace and their business ethics are truly damaged.

We're so sorry to hear that this customer's piece was damaged by their local jeweler during soldering. Each Gemvara piece is covered by a one year warranty on the craftsmanship of the jewelry. This policy covers craftsmanship issues, and does not cover repair issues that arise as a result of damage to the jewelry. This warranty is void if the piece is modified by an outside jeweler. We have been in communication with the customer, and are doing our best to support them through this time.
