My driveway was installed 5-21-2021. I notified Precise Paving in March 2022 that the driveway had thousands of horizontal cracks. Water was seeping into the cracks. A raised bump 7" across was cracking and water was seeping in. Brian H said it he would dig it up and patch my new driveway. He said the cracks were because it was on a hill. I've looked at driveways on a hill like mine that were paved about the same time as mine and none of them have cracks. I spoke with owner Kevin O in summer 2023. He suggested covering the cracks with sealer but refused to come look at it. The edges of driveway are cracking off because there is no base under it. Contract said 6" of gravel and 3" of asphalt to be put down. There is 1" of asphalt in some places. 2 foot long cracks appeared in the middle of the driveway over the winter. There are rough spots and smooth spots because the asphalt was not raked properly. Stones keep popping out. Water drains into garage because the asphalt is angled wrong. I called Precise Paving 3 times last month and have not received a call back. I have attached a copy of the contract. Thank you, ***************************

Thank you ***** for bringing this to our attention again and we are sorry for your frustration. When ***** first called Brian H went up to address her concerns in the Spring of 2022 there were cracks from the asphalt settling.  After returning in the Summer of 2022 we offered to have the driveway sealed to help with the cracking that ***** was concerned about as we believe is a cosmetic concern and not a failing driveway Kevin owner of Precise Paving called to discuss this with ***** and she refused this solution to her problem. There had been no mention of water going into her basement prior to this point. We are willing to give ***** a 5 year warranty for any breakdown in the quality of her driveway however we do not believe these zoomed in pictures of the asphalt laid is a fair representation of the work or workmanship that Precise Paving has done.

I am rejecting this response because: I don't want just a verbal warranty. I want to act on it now. I am adding more pictures proving breach of contract, failing driveway not installed properly and poor workmanship. Pictures show asphalt that cracked off with  thickness of  less than 1".  Another picture shows the actual thickness of the driveway, about 1". Contract states 6" gravel with 3" asphalt. Yardstick used to show exact size of cracks that are up to  6" long and 3/8" deep where water seeps into. Today I noticed a 6.5' crack ready to break off on the left side. Two pictures show part of the 6 foot section, also 1" thick. There are additional sections cracking off.

      Poor workmanship.

Properly installed driveways have a 45 degree edge. There  is absolutely no edge on the failing sections.

Picture shows vinyl siding paved over. So much asphalt built up that they actually broke off the back corner of vinyl and a big piece of cement from the concrete walkway.  Asphalt built up higher than the garage floor and angled toward it instead of downhill.  This causes water to pool in garage.

There should have been an allowance for a frost wall.  When water freezes and thaws the asphalt pushes against the concrete and will eventually crack the concrete.

I suggest applying an adhesive and add the missing top layer to the hill section if they know the proper procedure.  Possibly a frost wall can be cut out and sealed.

P.S. I don't know why you said I have water in basement.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************

I think it would be in both of our best interests for you to obtain an estimate from the professional advice you have already obtained, claiming we have not done the work properly, we can review and pay for a reasonable quote. Unfortunately I believe this is the best route as we are not going to see eye to eye on what it is you would like.
      Respectfully,

      Complaint: 21668817

I am rejecting this response because: I have not obtained any advice from anyone.  Putting a 45 degree edge is common knowledge. You did it on the top and bottom sections of the driveway which are at least 3" thick and not failing. Leaving space for a frost wall like ****** Paving did for me  years ago is also common knowledge.

Pic 1 shows 24"x8" section breaking off. Pic 2 is cross section of piece that broke off, it's 1" thick.  Pic 3 shows depth of asphalt, 1" deep. Pic 4 is part of a 6.5' section on the left side breaking off. Pic 5 are the horizontal cracks with ruler for your benefit showing the pics aren't zoomed in. Water is seeping under the asphalt which will only get worse.

There is the proof that the driveway is breaking down and failing. I would like you to honor your warranty and contract to uphold your reputation.

I would like you to come see for yourself what has happened to my driveway. Please call at you convenience.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************

*****, unfortunately I do not believe we are going to be able to meet your expectations on this, if you would please obtain a quote to repair what you believe needs repair and we will compensate you for a fair amount.

      Respectfully,
