On April 14, 2023, an SUV cut me off while I was in the bike lane and an accident occurred as a result of their actions.Professional Ambulance and ************** was the ambulance that reported to the scene of the accident, and they transported me to Mt. *************** in *********, ***I received several bills from Professional Ambulance and **************, each bill that I received was higher than the previous one (they kept changing the cost of their service). When I tried to pay them, they rejected my payment and raised the price on me again. They then accepted the higher payment, which was $959.98.I was not responsible for the accident, so the bill should never have been sent to me in the first place. Regardless of this, I paid for it so that I did not have to deal with bill collectors. I was then given notice on 2/24/24 by ***** (my health insurance provider) that I was owed a refund by Professional Ambulance and **************. I have tried to contact Professional Ambulance and ************** several times without any success. ***** has also tried to contact them on my behalf without success.I would like the refund that is owed to me.Initial Complaint

"*******" A.K.A "Professional Ambulance Svc" A.K.A "Professional Ambulance Serv" sent a bill to my ************************* My health insurance paid the "reasonable and customary charges" for an obvious over-charge. I was never sent a bill or never contacted in any form by Professional Ambulance Svc regarding the excess remaining portion of their bill that was beyond the "reasonable and customary charges". I did however receive a collection notice from ************************** **** I contacted Professional Ambulance Svc and asked them why they immediately sold the debt to a collection agency without even making any attempts to contact me and they stated that they did; however, that is not the case at all. After recently discovering there was a debt on my credit report from "Professional Ambulance Serv" while obtaining a mortgage, the bank stated that this is not the first time they have seen this and I should report it through the various agencies.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

I never received any bills, or any form of correspondence from Professional Ambulance Service.
I contacted Professional Ambulance Service after receiving a collection notice. They did respond by
leaving me a voice mail indicating that I should have seen an outstanding balance from the
bill they sent to ********** Blue Shield; my insurance company.
The outstanding balance was not a co-pay or a deductible as ************************ stated, it was the difference
between what Professional Ambulance Service billed and what ********** Blue Shield considers a reasonable
and customary fee determined by the "normal or acceptable range of payment for the specific service or
medical procedure."
This complaint is about several issues. The first issue is Professional Ambulance Service's false claim that they
mailed out multiple bills. According to ************************, one was sent on March 17th 2020, and another on May 1st 2020.
I never received any bills, or any form of correspondence from Professional Ambulance Service. I still have not
been provided any bills or any statements or even electronic forms of any correspondence.
I also have not had any issues with not receiving correspondence from ***** It is highly unlikely that both of
these bills were lost in the mail and more likely they never sent them at all.
The second issue is the excessive over-charge for the provided Ambulance service. ************************ stated
that rates for their services are prevailing rates. ********** Blue Shield already paid the prevailing rate to
Professional Ambulance Service for their Ambulance Service. In fact, ********** Blue Shield possibly even paid
more than the prevailing rates set by ************* regulators (Mass 101 CMR ******) for Ambulance services.
See attached rates within 101 CMR 327.03.
I can not demonstrate financial hardship. On the contrary, I'm sure that the over-charge is the
result of Professional Ambulance Service determining my affluence.Regards,
******
