This complaint is against World Challenge Expeditions, Limited, who was contracted with ********************************* in *******, *******, to lead an expedition with high school students to ***** in February, 2020. The trip was postpone twice, now scheduled for February, 2022, and all parties agreed to this postponement, and to have monies paid to World Challenge (WC) roll over each year. On 12/15/2021, WC informed all parties in the travel group that the trip would still happen in February 2022, despite many parents expressing serious concerns about traveling with the new Covid variants at higher level than ever. Furthermore, if parents elected to withdraw, they would not receive a refund for the trip. In Nov. 2021, two parents asked for medical exceptions due to having children with medical issues, but never received any response from WC. When parents asked what would happen if their child got Covid while in *****, WC responded that our child would have to be isolated, possibly beyond the trip dates, at the family's expense. Meaning, my child would be alone in a foreign country, in quarantine with an adult I don't know, and it is highly unlikely I could get over there, and nearly impossible for my child to get a flight back into the **** if better/faster medical care is needed. We were completely floored by this response and the flippant manner in which WC ignored our concerns. After much protest, WC told families that as a "gesture of goodwill" they will "only" retain $2,000 per family since WE backed out.On 12/16/2021, a parent/student/staff chaperone meeting was held via Zoom and 100% of the parents agreed that it is an unsafe time to travel, so we have all backed out. We have all written letters to WC, which have received a minimal form letter response. They tell us that they are keeping our money because they already bought plane tickets, which we know will be credited back to WC. When asked, WC said they can't share with us the expenses they've paid.
