The former manager was a gem. The new manager is dismissive, misogynistic and abrasive and cannot handle being told some of his machines aren't functioning correctly by a silly woman who has only used those particular machines for 5 years. Apparently if a woman raises her voice to him to stand up for herself because he is being rude, dismissive and disrespectful, he feels the only way to deal with the problem is to tell her to leave and call the police when she informs him she's a paying member and won't leave until her contract is cancelled. Those particular machines, by the way, used to be extremely popular, yet the last couple times I've been in only one of the machines was in use, and it was confirmed to me both another member AND a personal trainer that the machines weren't functioning correctly. I told him so, but he didn't want to hear any of that. Just kept reiterating that it was my "opinion" that the machines weren't working correctly and I must have "forgotten" how to use them. "The machines aren't working" obviously is not an opinion. Either something is functioning correctly, or it isn't. That's just basic. But the fitness manager decided to back him up. Maybe she's afraid of losing her job, I dunno, I probably would be. I can only speculate on why she'd assist him in trying to gaslight a member so he doesn't have to pay attention or fix anything.Received confirmation of the cancellation that I requested, and it says my membership was terminated by the club for "member misconduct." Yeah, okay. Been there 5 years, always helping put other members' equipment away for them after class, always respectful when there was a problem. Definitely never treated this way before, and no, I don't tolerate being treated like absolute dirt. Lower than dirt. And yes, I will speak loudly and clearly when someone is treating me that way so other members can hear what's going on, even if my voice shakes. If he wants to call that misconduct, I have some ideas for where he can go...You'll notice all the many 1 star reviews on ****** and Yelp, that many of them are very recent since he took over, and that a few mention him specifically as problematic. And that many mention being cheated out of their money.I have never had the police called on me before. Ever. Never had more than a parking ticket in my whole life. Definitely never had anybody accuse me of "misconduct." I have, however, had to speak up for myself before, and have on occasion been met with similar fragility from big men who can't handle the idea they may need to actually listen to a woman. This was the most extreme example of that so far. Hence why I call it misogyny. If I'd been a ************************************************************* yoga pants, would I have been dismissed and condescended to so easily? I think not. Buyer beware. This is not the club it used to be. The classes are still great. That's thanks to Steph and the instructors. But the manager doesn't care about you. Just your money. I'm considering how to go about a class action suit, since it seems quite a number of people have had similar problems here. But first I will definitely be contacting the franchise owner about this man's deplorable behavior.
