On 7/14/21, we entered into a $26,200 contract with ******************** Landscape (********************) to complete landscaping work in our backyard. The contract required two payments of $13,100 to made. The first was due at signing and the second final payment was "due upon completion." During the course of Summer 2021, ******************** completed portions of the work required by the contract and then additional grading and coping installation over concrete footing. ******************** charged us an additional $16,119 to complete this work, which he told us was necessary due to problems with grading completed by the pool builder and concrete form work performed by a concrete company. **** ******************** insisted that we pay immediately even though he never provided us with invoices needed to justify the work. These invoices/receipts are needed for the other contractors to support our request that they reimburse us for the cost of their work, which Mr. ******************** claimed was defective and in need of repair. After many requests, Mr. ******************** provided us with a receipt explaining why he charged us an additional $4,568 (not 16k). Mr. ******************** has still failed to provide us with a receipt for the remaining $11,551 over our contract price, which we've been requesting since we paid on 10/16 2021. We have spoken to the other contractor who performed the work that Mr. ******************** told us was faulty and this contractor cannot understand why it cost ******************** that much to correct. He believes we were overcharged by ********************, since in his estimation, it should have cost no more than $2k to correct. ******************** walked off the job approximately 30 days ago when he asked us to pay him an additional $500 without a written invoice - which we refused to do - as we are still waiting on written invoice/receipts explaining the $11k in prior charges before making any additional payments that we did not believe we owed. To remediate this dispute, we would like a written explanation of the $11,551, and for ******************** to finish the few remaining items contracted to complete.
