Hired March 17 w/$4000 down payment to build shower floor and walls and install tile. Also, to tile bathroom floor. Quoted $8000, then bumped it up to $12,500 w/o clear explanation or itemized details. Work appeared satisfactory to me as a layperson, so, I paid another $4000 about 2/3 of the way through the job as we had agreed upon. We began to delve into other repairs not previously discussed, and he bumped the total cost up to $16,500 w/o itemized invoice (which took me aback and seemed excessive).After that, it was all downhill, Flaws in his work, lack of professional behavior, and proper skills/work ethic/care became apparent to me.With $8000 and alot of time invested, it was a difficult decision for me to fire him; but, it was imperative. He is not trustworthy, responsible, or professional. I dare say that he is a con man and manipulater who took advantage of me. On March 29, 2022, I explained to him (though I couldn't get into every reason...too many) why I was dissatisfied w/his work and told him I no longer wanted his services. Worked about 6 (short) days, and did not show up for other days. Also, caused alot of stress and grief for my family along w/the severe monetary loss.Today, March 30, I emailed him and requested he remove his green bag full of disposed items removed from my yard. He refused, stating that he owes me nothing and told me to do it and pay for waste management. A tile/floors professional inspected his work and stated it is poorly done. Shower was not waterproof and would've leaked and caused future damage. Floor not properly built or leveled. Wrong material for floor. Floor tiles are uneven and loose. I am not confident that the plumbing he did is acceptable. Professional stated that everything must be torn apart and rebuilt, costing me thousands $$$ more.I don't have time at this moment to provide supporting documents. I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint. The business owner has not taken any responsibility for his poor quality work; nor has he admitted to any wrong-doing regarding his unethical business practices including, but, not limited to, an astronomical, undefined price increase during the job to attempt to ******* me out of more money. I've had a professional, licensed contractor who specializes in floors/tile inspect the area, and he states that the entire area must be demolished and rebuilt due to flaws in Lazzo Renovations' work. The owner of Lazzo Renovations should be held accountable in a court of law for his blatant misrepresentation of his construction abilities and for milking the customer for more than $8000. The customer is due a full refund for the cost of materials, labor and the excessive amount of grief caused by the business owner.
