KMC was recommended to us by a relative, and we're glad we hired them. They did excellent work and were attentive to our needs from the start.

We hired KMC in January 2022. After several months of significant delays on their part, mistakes, bully tactics, insults, mockery of us, and total incompetence on all parts of the job, this contractor began making improper demands for $25,000 for work/expenses we never signed/agreed too. Despite our best efforts to settle the finances and finish our home in a timely manner, KMC continued with the bully tactics, negligence, and refused to fix the roughly $70,000 of damages to our home. Their intentional delays cost us $25,000 in extra rent. KMC agreed to not complete parts of the home, documented in emails, and then attempted to provide credits back at 50%. The damages include a flooded basement, where KMC ran a pump across the floor to our waste pipe, covered perfectly with baby diaper, illegally venting a bathroom and laundry dryer, blocking a vent in masterbath, numerous mistakes on the Hardie Board, breaking the irrigation system, breaking the line-set of the HVAC leaving the home with dozens of holes in the wall, ruining the basement floor with concrete, ruining the basement bar with water damage/mold, leaving the basement so dirty it looked like *****************, damaging the basement stairs, putting the wrong color roof on the house, removing our ridge vent without authorization, leaving parts of the roof unsecured, damaging all of the home's drip edge, installing the wrong set of granite stairs, damaging the garage floor and walls, installing a kitchen with cabinet drawers that hit each other when pulled out, leaving spray paint on our floors, damaging our light post, leaving a shower not working, illegally wiring in a few rooms, pouring a foundation that doesn't meet the framing correctly, leaving a curved foundation wall, breaking the homes vintage heating convectors, leaving a horrible plaster job, leaving at least three interior walls curved, leaving the roof deck with the improper footing, leaving the back deck with several mistakes and more

We at KMC are deeply concerned about the false and misleading claims made in this review. As a small family-run business, we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and our commitment to our clients. However, we must address and correct the inacurracies presented by this customer.1. **Project Completion and Non-Payment:** Contrary to the owner's claims, we completed the project in its entirety. The owner's moved into the property over a year ago and have yet to compensate us for our services. We've pursued legal action to recover $122,196.76 owed to us. This non-payment has not only caused significant financial strain but has also unjustly enriched the owner at our expense. Additionally, we have a Notice of Contract and a Mechanic's Lien in place on their property.2. **Impact on Our Business and Employees:** As a small business, we support dozens of families by providing steady employment. The owner's refusal to pay has jeopardized the livelihoods of our hardworking employees. We are a family business that stands by our work, and we simply expect fair and reasonable compensation for our services.3. **Alleged Damages and Work Quality:** The extensive list of alleged damages and accusations of incompetence are baseless and defamatory. We have detailed documentation and evidence that refute these claims. All of our work was inspected by the building department and passed all inspections. All of our work adheres to industry standards. Additionally, we have text messages from the owner's wife acknowledging his bullying behavior and fraudulent tactics. We invite anyone who wishes to verify this information to contact us directly.4. **Improper Demands and Financial Disputes:** The additional charges mentioned were for extra work and materials that the owner requested and approved. These were not "improper demands" but legitimate costs for services rendered. We have records and emails that substantiate these agreements.5. **Professional Conduct:** The accusations of bullying, insults, and mockery are unequivocally fabricated. Our team maintains the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. It is, in fact, the owner's manipulative and fraudulent behavior that has led to this dispute.6. **Legal Action:** Due to the owner's ongoing refusal to pay, we have been forced to take legal action. We are confident that the court will recognize the owner's unjust enrichment and fraudulent tactics.7. **Exposing Fraudulent Behavior:** It is important for the public and potential clients to be aware of the owner's manipulative and dishonest behavior. Their employers and associates should know about their tactics to avoid future harm.In conclusion, we urge potential clients to consider our extensive portfolio of successful projects and positive reviews from satisfied clients. We remain committed to delivering high-quality work and ensuring customer satisfaction. We hope for an amicable resolution to this dispute and encourage the owner's to settle the outstanding payment promptly.

This business really put me through the ringer with plans that the city inspector wouldn't approve and then didn't even stick to the agreement we had in writing. They were to Pour me a garage. Instead, they convinced me (in the dead of winter, because they were behind) that reinforced cinder block would be even "Better!" I should have known. Within a few months it was leaking. I took some picture and grumbled about it to them. At this point, I have a constantly leaking garage now and this company has gone silent on me.

Dear *****, We appreciate your feedback, and we regret to hear about your concerns regarding the project. We take all feedback seriously and strive to ensure the satisfaction of our valued customers. If what you are claiming were true, we would not have received 49 five-star reviews within the past 5 years. In fact, this is the first negative review we have ever received.Contrary to your mistruths, we did in fact secure a building permit from the building department, a process requiring their explicit approval of meticulously reviewed and sanctioned drawings (plans). In *************, no building permit is granted without a thorough examination and approval of all submitted documents in response to the department's requests. We take building permits seriously and, in compliance with local and state regulations, our plans were thoroughly reviewed and approved by the building department before proceeding with the construction. We understand the importance of adhering to regulatory standards, and it is our policy to ensure that all necessary approvals are obtained. As licensed and insured contractors in the **********************, we strictly adhere to standard ************* HIC agreement protocols. During the project, we informed you about the necessity of a drainage system to prevent groundwater infiltration, providing you with a detailed proposal and additional cost estimate. Regrettably, you chose to decline this proposed solution. We made every effort to communicate the potential consequences of not addressing this issue, and it was your choice to proceed without the recommended solution. You claim that the garage started leaking within a few months of us completing the project, but we have evidence to support the fact that we completed the project over a year ago, and you had not contacted us with this complaint until about two weeks ago. Upon recently learning about the water issue at your property, we promptly sent a project manager to assess the situation. The conclusion reached after the visit was that the walls we built were not designed to control ground water, a point we communicated to you from the very beginning. It is crucial to note that you contracted us to replace a failing foundation that was caving in on a decrepit home. The project consisted of shoring up your house, demolishing the failed foundation walls and reconstruction them. We did in fact build and pour a cement garage per the agreement. The cinderblock walls were constructed with cement and rebar reinforcements, offering an equivalent level of structural integrity as a poured foundation. As a standard industry practice, we applied an asphalt waterproof coating on the exterior concrete walls before backfilling. The project passed all required inspections with the building department, underscoring the quality of our work. We informed you many times that foundation walls do not and cannot control groundwater. As communicated to you numerous times, the only thing that will properly guide groundwater away from the garage is a drainage system. We are truly sorry that you regrettably declined our proposal for the drainage system. We understand your frustration and want to address your concerns promptly. To facilitate this, we invite you to connect with us again directly. Our aim is to find a resolution and ensure your satisfaction.Best regards,Kyle Matthew Construction
