The business collects deposits for tattoo appointments and those appointments are subsequently canceled by the business.  2.) The consumer arrives for their appointment, but the business is unable to service them at the agreed upon time.   3.)  When consumers request a refund of their deposit for the cancelled appointment, the business will not provide a refund.  On 6/9/2023 BBB submitted a written request to the company encouraging them to address the pattern of complaints. We are awaiting the business’ response and will update this alert when they respond.

      James R from Paper City Tattoo robbed me of $80 that was sent to him via cash app for a tattoo. He sent me excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't schedule the appointment or refund my money. Needless to say I had to file in small claims. Don't mess with this snake.

      I am still saving the money to be able to take him to court. Unfortunately I dont know if it will happen. I am going through a divorce and I literally have no money so this $80 was no joke to me. Im so upset that This happened.

      November 8, 2023 $200 Cash app name *********** I I had reached out to Paper City Tattoo for a tattoo. The appointment was scheduled for tomorrow night. I was told roughly about what the price would be for the tattoo. A man named James R told me that he was the shop owner and we discussed the details of the tattoo. Suddenly he was saying that I had to send a deposit through cash app. I have gotten a tattoo before and never seen this. I mentioned that I wanted to see a drawn up version of it and he said yes. The day before I tried to reach out to him since I still had yet to receive the drawn version of it so I could approve it and my messages were not delivering. I tried to call him and it went straight to voicemail. I cant dispute it with cash app they just tell me to report it. Attached I have sent proof of messages and proof of purchase

      ******* hi I'm really confused as to why you made this complaint. We did your tattoo and you were very happy with it from what you were saying. I even drove to pick you up and dropped you off did I miss something here? Maybe you made the complaint when we had the VERY brief phone troubles for about 3 minutes but other than that I don't understand? Please reach out. Thanks!

      I was charged a $65 deposit for a tattoo appointment scheduled him the owner, Jamie, at 2pm. The owner did not show up until almost 4pm, did not let us into his studio until around 4:30pm, and did not start tattooing me until 8pm. It was told to me that the deposit is to help ensure that people show up for their appointments, and that the money can be used towards the total cost of the appointment. After a short 45 minutes of tattooing, Jamie advised me the total for the appointment would be $150, and if I wanted to roll my deposit over to my next appointment to hold a spot that he would be happy to do that, and so I paid $150 out of pocket for the tattoo that day, plus a tip, and he said would roll it over. I've reached out three times since then to schedule my follow up and have not yet heard back from Jamie. I am simply asking that my deposit be refunded and this is documented somewhere that this is a recurring problem in his shop.

      Back in September 2022 i had scheduled an appointment for my wife and I to get tattoos along with a deposit of $120 for Thursday September 22nd. Less than an hour before the appointment someone called saying the tattoo artist got bit by a spider and was at the hospital and that they would reach out to reschedule within the next couple days. I was never contacted so I texted the artist and reached out to the shop but to no avail. Every once and a while Id reach out and I'd either get no response be told I'd be given a refund once they got done with a client they were working on, and one time that their finance guy is going to take care of it. It's been months and there's been no progress or we'd be in communication and then I'd receive no response when I ask for an update.

      $60 on April 18 for a deposit for my tattoo appointment that the business ghosted me for. See attached screenshots. The day of the appointment the business stopped answering all of my calls and texts. 2 days later they texted saying that their child dropped their phone in the toilet. They then refused to refund me via **** *** , where I made the deposit. They are making money off of doing this to multiple people (I just found more than myself complaining of this on their ********!) I would just like my money refunded.

      Called march 3rd 2023 at around 2 pm and James ri**** (the owner) said he would text me a overview of the booking process. In that process it said you need to send a deposit which was $60 and any other general information. I send the deposit and booked my appointment for 6:30pm on March 3rd. We get there at 6:30 and he isn't in the shop. I call and he said there was an accident on memorial drive and he'd be a couple minutes late. A few minutes later he texts me and asks to move the appointment to 7:30pm. I said that's fine. 7:30 rolls around and he's making up excuses and is saying he's running behind. At this point I ask for my deposit back because it's about 8:45 at this point. He said he'll send the deposit and after another 15 minutes he said I need to sign a non disclosure before he sends it back. I'm like whatever and say I'll sign it after he send back the deposit. He refuses so we go to the tattoo shop and knock on the door because he blocked both me and my mom and won't send back the money. He threatens to call the cops for trespassing and I still haven't gotten my deposit back !

      We paid over cash app for a deposit never walked into the business. Never saw any signs regarding nonrefundable deposit didn’t have anything about a nonrefundable deposit in his text messages that he sent to us overbooked appointments made us wait two hours in the snow refuse to refund our deposit when asked argued with us called us lying ******* said that we were disgusting human beings, and continue to harass us when all we wanted was our deposit back. Then, when people started asking why he wouldn’t refund anyone’s money, he started blocking people from his page on Facebook. Still refuses to give back the money and won’t answer phone calls.

      On September 24th my friend **** ****** and I had tattoo appointments at 4pm. We waited in the parking lot for 5 hours only for them to come out and cancel on us. We were told we would get a full refund so we left. We called the next day and they said they were going to talk to their accountants and send us the money. It has been 4 months now and we still have not gotten our money back. We have called many times and every time they said they would send it and they have not. Now it seems they have blocked my friends and I number and we are still looking for our $120 refund.
