company completed job on June 8, 2022., and immediately was paid in full. four windows installed; one window had no screen. they promised to order the screen or make it themselves and install it. In spite of numerous phone calls, the last one being September 24. As of October 13, we still have no screen. there has never been a call from them on any progress, just completely ignoring us and their useless promise of job completion.

I had siding installed and within a year parts of the siding between the roof and the upper window became loose. I have called the company 5 times and nothing has been resolved. All I want is for someone to come and snap the siding back in before it falls off.

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.

      Business response

      10/12/2021

In May 2021 we were contacted by a former customer, *************************, regarding a loose piece of trim above her second floor windows, right above her power lines. We were concerned about the location of the repair, so we offered to try to perform the repair from inside the house, leaning out the window. Obviously this wouldn't be ideal, but the danger posed by the power lines remains a concern.

***** eventually got back to us, informing us that she was unable to gain access to her property (she did not explain why). After speaking to our site supervisor, we decided the only safe and legal way to go about the repair was to go through the extremely standard, common process of having a protective rubber boot installed over the power lines. We explain to ***** very simply that she need only contact National Grid, and they would come out and install the safety boot FREE of charge within THREE days. We told her that she, as the homeowner, could request this service at NO cost. This is completely routine in construction, and we have had other homeowners do this in **** this year. National Grid is fast and responsive, and there is NO cost.

Months later we heard from ***** again, but she had not contacted National Grid. She asked us to perform the repair leaning out the window, which we informed her wasn't ideal or safe, and if she could please contact National Grid as the homeowner.

As of this time, October 2021, we are:

      1. Willing to perform the repair for free

      2. National grid is willing to install the safety boot for free

However, as a business owner and a human being, I am not willing to

      1. Break any state laws

      2. Violate any OSHA regulations

      3. Put my in-house employees in direct, negligent danger.

Rather than simply cooperate and make a simple phone call, ***** reappears every few months demanding we perform the minor repair. Her next step was to file a somewhat dishonest complaint against us, leaving out the fact we are willing and able to perform a SAFE and LEGAL repair. We are NOT willing to get involved in whatever issues leave her "unable to access her property" or to violate state and federal codes regarding power lines and ladders.

My only message to ***** is that her repair has been a phone call away since May 2021, and she has not chosen to handle this in an effective or even sincere manner. There is no conflict here, and the solution is very simple. It's unfortunate she has chosen to go about resolving this is such a counter productive fashion.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

The siding company was able to side the entire front of my house without having the wires covered. I was not open to the suggestion of fixing the problem from my tenants window as I knew it was not going to work. They never told me that solution was not going to work.

The electric company just finished covering the electric wires. I will contact the siding company and let them know.

I do not want to close this complaint until the siding is fixed.

[You must provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.  If you do not enter a reason for your rejection, your complaint will be closed as Answered.]

Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.
