      Become Fitness does not follow ************* General Law Chapter 93 Section 81.I signed up for a student membership on 7/13/23. I talked with a manager, *************************** and I signed an electronic contract. He explained it to me verbally and assured me that I would receive a copy by email. When I received a pdf of the contract later that day, I noticed that he failed to inform me of certain costs associated with freezing the membership while I am away at college. This made the membership too much of a financial burden for me so I returned that day and cancelled my membership. ******** told me I would be refunded. Become Fitness has yet to refund me.Under the above law, it is my right to cancel a health club membership within 3 days and the club must refund me within the following 15 days. I have uploaded a proof that my membership cancelation was processed on 7/14/23 and signed by manager ***************************. I demanded proof of my cancellation in person on 8/4/23 and this is what I received. It shows that in their system I cancelled my membership on the 7/14/23 and the reason says "3 day clause".

      In September of 2022 I got a membership to become fitness. I was in the area for several months, used the gym several times. Since then, I have moved back to my home address in ****. I attempted to cancel this membership and was told I had to mail my evidence in to their PO box in ********. I verify over email that I have the correct evidence. I do this and nothing happens, they claim no record of anything being mailed. I once again try to confirm the evidence they require to cancel and since they have just been taking this in a circle. If I try to confirm that my next efforts will be successful, they email back about something else, cant even complete a conversation. My attempts to talk to a live human and find resolution have not been successful, I just keep getting pushed onto someone else. At this point I am halfway across the country and unable to cancel a membership for a gym I cannot use. They offer a $100 cancellation fee but at this point they have taken several months extra and I refuse to give them another dime willingly. I used my **** address to register for the gym, as I had no mailing address while here. They claim that I cannot use my moving clause because according to my account address I have not moved. The specific nature of how they calculate the old vs new address moving distance is not spelled out, and has caused this scenario that I seemingly cannot escape from. Horrible business practices and not even a good gym. Please help BBB, you're my only hope.

      This member signed up for a one year agreement but is moving out of state earlier than the expiration date on his agreement and doesn't want to pay the early termination fee. He has been in contact with our billing company regarding cancelling and not our gym staff, who handles all cancellations. We decided to waive his early termination fee's due to the inconvenience and cancel his membership effective immediately at no extra cost.
