We moved to ****** after my cancer diagnosis to be closer to family. When we sold our ******* house, it was found that there were four open certificates of work that the closing attorneys didnt find when we purchased. When we reached out to the lawfirm (Kriss Law), they admits fault, but won't reimburse us for expenses endured as as direct result of their error - damages of $6.5K. They did pay for engineer, but wont pay for actual work needed, or carrying cost of the house. We are super frustrated and disappointed. We had to keep the house for 2 additional months, pay for upkeep, and pay for driveway work associated with the open certificates - which should have been caught by the law firm in the first place. Asking individuals to pay for attorney's mistakes - we could really use the $6.5K.

      Good afternoon,

Upon discovery of this issue, Kriss Law immediately agreed to pay for remedy thereof--an exact figure was agreed upon.

Thereafter, consumer stated that additional funds were due that this firm is not responsible for. Even with that said, we agreed to split the additional amount with consumer.

Kriss Law has done everything asked of us and then some in regard to this matter. We are open to continuing to speak to the consumer but we will not expend funds that are not our responsibility.

There was no agreement on the funds due- no contract or email confirmation.  The firm only offered partial reimbursement for their mistake- which we immediately emailed our dissatisfaction.   The email chain shows there was never an agreed dollar figure.  They are asking the customer to cover thousands of dollars for their error.

As we have said previously, we are happy to work on a solution that satisfied both parties. However, we will not pay in full for items that we do not feel are necessary or our responsibility. The customer is free to reach out to us directly to resolve this matter.

Weve already spoken to the law firm and could not come to an agreement.  They are not willing to pay for key expenses weve incurred as a direct result of their error.   Please refer to the last email exchange which they indicated final offer- which would not cover the hardscaping needed to close out the open completion orders.  These are not indirect expenses- but $6.5k they have made the customer incur for their error.

We wanted to get more information on how the categorization of this complaint was decided.  The law office is offering to pay less that 50% of the $ that we, the customer, had to incur as a direct result of their malpractice.

Hoping to understand a bit more ** it doesn't feel like a good attempt at a resolution was made on their part.  Can we get the justification to why they would not be responsible for the full *** of $s that we had to incur?

      Hoping you can help.

      Thank you

As previously stated to the consumer and on this forum, this firm paid exactly what was agreed to by the parties.

With that said, we are willing to pay a bit more as mentioned to consumer in previous direct exchanges.

What this firm is not willing to do is to pay the egregious list of costs that consumer has listed. This firm is neither responsible for those nor will pay them.

Finally, if consumer would like to accept our previous offer to settle this matter with an additional payment, we are happy to do so.

There was never, and has never, been any agreement to funds between Kriss law and the ******************************* household.  We have suffered damages arising from errors in a real estate review made by your firm, Kriss Law.  These are direct expenses - nothing is indirect about them.  We would have closed on the house in July had it not been for the error by Kriss Law.

Below is a breakdown of the direct expenses related to the error.

      Driveway work: $3,288.00
Carrying cost to keep 10 ******* past the sale date:
      o Interest on mortgage $1,888.63
      o 2 months upkeep $741.00
      o ******* Utilities -2 months $1,047.00
      o Subtotal $3,676.63
      Total: $6,964.63

We hope this matter can be resolved without additional escalation. However, we plan to
pursue all available remedies if we are unable to reach an agreement.

This is despicable from an ethical standpoint.   Kriss Law made a mistake resulted in us the client, enduring thousands of dollars of expenses directly related to their mistake... and won't take responsibility to cover the expenses that we would never had endured if their error didn't happen.   There is no grey area here - its black and white.    We moved due to a cancer diagnosis - my cancer diagnosis and this has caused nothing but more stress on top of a super stressful year of treatments.    I hope they are ashamed.

They never provided a contact that we can reach out to.
