I had to switch rooms once I received keys and someone was already in the room. I went back down to the desk and was given new keys to a new room that was vacant. Stayed my night and checked out on time. I was charged for the room switch and then contacted the hotel because the charges were $250 and then another charge for $150. Once I spoke with the staff, I was told it was because I had 2 rooms. I explained the situation from the night prior and she told me I would be receiving my refund. It has been over a week and I have not received any part of my refund. I called customer service and the exact location and no one is helping me. Everyone keeps giving me the runaround about my refund and no one has an explanation for when I will receive my money. At this point I feel scammed and feel like they are stealing. This is not fair and it should be investigatedReview from N. G

I booked this hotel based on reviews online for a trip to ******, **. Online the hotel advertised the following amenities: gym, laundry room and poool. When we got to the hotel at around 9:30 p.m. to check in there was no one in the front desk. A few mintues later a gentlmen walks in and ask me to hold for a few minute becuase he had to clock in. He mentioned that the other staff member had left to the airport. On sunday, after we came back to the hotel, my girls wanted to go to the pool and the water was green. I called the third party that i booked my hotel and they were told that I had been advised prior to checking in, which was not the case. The only thing that I was told the night that i checked in was that they did not do room service every day but if we needed something i just needed to call. Then on Monday, I asked were the washer and dryer were and they mentioned that they did not have any. So, I had to go find a place to do our laundry. Our keys to the room would stop working and when I would go to the front desk there was never someone there. I complaint to the front desk clerk about the length of time that I had to wait to get the key reactivated and he mentioned that he was the only person on the facility. The front doors were left unlocked without anyone in the front which seems like a security issue to me. The by far is the worse hotel that I have ever stayed. Booked my room through their website. I got my reservation email showing the room charge with $150 deposit. I got to the hotel to check in and the front desk clerk told me that my deposit was $250 and the room charge of one $166.50 so they charged my card a total of $416.50 and when I said my email shows that the deposit is 150 and he said no it only shows that when you go through Expedia, I did not go through Expedia. I went directly to their website and still to this day I havent been refunded my deposit! I got the room at the beginning of June, and I still have not been refunded my deposit, even though they say that it has been released. I do have a dispute going right now, but they still have not refunded my deposit and the room was dirty and smelly and was definitely not worth the stay. I highly highly do not recommend this place!Review from Barbara W

So... I went to this hotel with my mother, boyfriend and son about three weeks ago, staying for almost two weeks. We went because my mother was getting surgery at *************** and this hotel works with you to give you a discount if you are family staying close by a patient in ***************. You would never know that, with the way we were treated and overcharged... The first room we stayed in the majority of the stay was an "apartment suite", which looked like it hadn't been vacuumed. With no notice ahead of time, just a note left in the room on the desk, the hotel was going to be "under construction" with power outages throughout the week as they worked on their electricity. How convenient. Days of flashing lights and no power at all for period of time, but still expected to pay full price for the rooms... When their electrical work was supposedly finished, we still went another night with half of our room without power and it "couldn't be fixed until morning". Continuously convenient... My mother ended up having to stay in *************** longer than expected, so we had to unfortunately extend our stay at this place... They were booked and we had to switch rooms toward the end of our stay, but once again, it was not made convenient. We were told we would have to pack all of our stuff and it would be stored "in the back" while we wait 5 hours to go to the next room. The manager would not tell me where exactly our stuff would be stored and I was very uncomfortable with that. We brought enough to possibly have to stay for weeks, no idea how long my mother would be in the hospital, and my one year old son was with us, and we'd never been to *** before, so we brought a lot of stuff. Then the doorman argued with me about where our stuff would end up, again being told "in the back"... Our room card was immediately shut off so I couldn't access the elevator to get back to the room to even bring all of our stuff to the lobby to "wherever". In the end, overcharged $600Review from ibrahim e

In March, I booked a sonesta property for next month in the ****** area. It was cancellable until the day of. This week I double-checked my reservation and decided that we needed to get closer to the airport. I tried to cancel via my original confirmation email but it would not let me. I could not find a phone number for sonesta anywhere. I finally found one for their frequent traveler program. The rep was nice, however, she was unable to cancel my reservations due to the fact that they sold the property to staybridge suites. In 3 months they never bothered to contact me to let me know. I finally received a number to the staybridge suites called and they only had one of the reservations which wasn't even for the same room type. Staybridge canceled it for me though. Sonesta has yet to offer an apology or let me know that my information has been wiped from their system. I also had to wait two days to get that response. I tried replying and it bounced. I will never ever stay at a sonesta property nor can I ever recommend them. I should have been contacted and my information should have never been provided to another business. I am still concerned that Sonesta has my information.Review from Jonathan L

Where to begin first we were given a handicap room with no amenities such as fridge or microwave which was advertised for this room. So apparently they don't care about people with disabilities and they think they don't need such items. Secondly bugs everywhere hundreds in the hallway and dosens in the room mainly stink bugs. So many things were broken and not functioning for example burnt out lights and bathroom counter falling off the walls ready to come undone and crush someone toes also impossible to put anything on because it just slides off. Secondly a heat light bulb in the bathroom exploded raining down glass all over my fianc head in her hair and ultimately our service dog was cut on her paws in the process. But wait there's more... Now the price probably the worste part. We had come to sonesta Paying the price through Expedia. Our first night it was cheap and reasonable the price of 65$ which is close to their advertised price. We asked about extended stay seeing as we wanted to stay for longer than a week the next day. Even though their website says 65 to 70 dollars they tried charging over ***************************************** microwave. They fought me on the price finally negotiating to 80 plus tax which was fine for the time being. Once I gave them my credit card the girl at the front who offered me the rate of 70$ without my authorization charged me for 3 nights 106 plus tax. So she lied. Nowhere was this room advertised for this price. And when we decided to complain about everything we experienced here they proceeded to try to charge my card even more the next day upping the price now to 137$ a night! Basically punishing us for having concerns. We told them that's not fair they refused to do anything for us. We waited to negotiate and before we could get our thing together once we decided they are price gouging us, they called police like cowards without warning and made us feel like criminals. By far the worste people/hotel experience of life.Review from S. S

I forgot my suit at one of their hotels after staying there 10 days -- my fault for sure -- but they threw it away without ever letting me know. No email, no call, NOTHING. Thanks a LOT.Review from Marilyn M

I think this company steals money they are not entitled. If you book here and your flight gets canceled they will not return any of your money. I would understand keeping a night of the stay but all $562.00, I think this is gross negligence. If I was you I wouldn't pay ahead to stay here.Review from Craig N

My wife was in *****, ** on vacation and experienced an emergency situation at the place she was staying. She panicked and thought she should leave and go to a hotel, so she booked a room at the *****, ** location of Royal Sonesta at 7:30pm on the night of March 1st, 2024 for that evening. In her haste she accidentally booked two reservations. The emergency situation subsided and she was unable to come and take the room. This hotel charged her a one night cancellation charge for each room - $1,100 total for a room she couldn't use. Assuming it was just an automatic "no show" charge we called and explained the situation. We couldn't imagine a hotel would hold her to two nights charges that were accidentally booked at 7:30pm the night of the intended stay, especially since the hotel was not full that evening and the reservations she accidentally made clearly cost the hotel nothing - no lost revenue, no housekeeping, etc. The front desk clerk was empathetic and checked with "management" and the reply was, "that is our policy and there is nothing we can do."They are absolutely right. That is their policy and it would make sense if we had booked a room months or weeks in advance and then canceled at the last minute. But, there is something they could have done. Have ****** Have understanding about a woman in distress who panicked and made a mistake in haste. Anyway, *****, am I right?!?
