On December 9th, 2021 at 1:11pm I emailed Easton Roofing asking for an estimate to replace a skylight and roof of a residence located at ********************************. *********, **.That same day, just 2 minutes later at 1:13pm, I received an email response from *******************************, owner of Easton Roofing. He asked if I could send him my address so he could schedule a time to come measure and go over options. When ***** arrived around 2pm on December 9th, we discussed the project including the skylight and blind. He indicated the blind was back ordered and may not come in until January or February. On December 10 at 10:00am, I informed ************************ that I wanted to move forward with replacing my roof and skylight consistent with the conversation we had the day before when he was on-site. In his response, at about 10:50am, ************************ said You would have to pay the full amount for the skylight and blind and the blind would be installed later when it shipped from the manufacturer.A couple of days later when the weather was conducive, the roof and skylight were replaced and ***** indicated he would return in a few days to complete another part of the project which was the replacement of damaged aluminum siding trim over my garage. On March 9, 2022, I emailed ************************ the following: Good afternoon *****. I hope all is well with you.Can you please give me an update on when you might be able to install our skylight blind and compete the aluminum trim above our garage? Thanks *****. I did not receive a response to my email.On April 4, 2022 at 9:42am, I sent the following text to ************************: Good morning ***** - I do not know if you received my March 9th email which said - Good afternoon *****. I hope all is well with you.Can you please give me an update on when you might be able to install our skylight blind and compete the aluminum trim above our garage? I would appreciate it if I could get an update. Thanks *****.Customer response

We did the roof installation in December and I informed *************** that the blinds for his skylight were not available at that time, They are a remote control solar powered blind, and the microchips used in the control system were not being shipped to Velux, the maker, at that time.
*************** wanted to go ahead with the installation. *************** did not pay for the blind at that time nor he pay for the repair of some aluminum trim he wanted to replace.
To date we are experiencing very long delays in sourcing some of these parts for other customers, who all pay in advance for non returnable special order items such as the blinds. If *************** wants us to install a Blind then he would have to pay in advance for the blind to be ordered and the installation fee $250. The blinds cost aprox $490+ Tax when they are available. But as of last week the blinds are not available to be shipped. (I was checking for another customer)
We were only paid for the work we have already completed.

As you can clearly see from the contract, the new fixed Velux w/solar blind room dark -grey was included in the contract price. The owner is mistaken about the truth of the matter. In mid December, he did indicate the solar blinds were back ordered and he would not be surprised if they did not arrive until January. Please see copy of the Contract which was forwarded in a separate email.
What I did not pay for was the replacement of the aluminum ***** on the front of my house. He indicated I could pay the $400 when he returned the following week to complete the work.

Case #******** I have called my bank to get a copy of the check written by the homeowner I was sure that the skylight blinds were not paid for with the final check If I am mistaken and the homeowner did pay for the blind in advance then Ill absolutely refund the cost of the blind. I will have the information by end of the the day todayCustomer response

I believe the written and signed Contract I provided yesterday should serve to clarify this issue and assist the Company in better remembering the facts.
Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.
