On 2/28/22 I approved the estimate provided by Ribeiro for deck/porch demolish and rebuild, which included line items for "104-0 SUPPLY - Dumpster, permit with the city hall and all fees" in the amount of $1,300.00. The total estimate provided for the entire project was $11,998.38. On 3/24/22, we received a text message from Ana asking if "the guys" could come out on Monday, 3/28/22 to begin work. At this point, we had already paid a 40% deposit of $4,799.35. On 3/28/22, I Ana informed me that "the guys won't be starting today because it's snowing." The call was made at 8:25 a.m., after I had already contacted her twice to inquire about why the guys were not onsite at 7:00 a.m. as planned. The snowfall for that date was 0.2? total, and here in Boston there was zero snow. The workers instead showed up on 3/29/22 and were paid an additional $3,599.51 immediately upon start of the project. They worked for approximately 1-2 hours, then sat in their truck for 3-5 hours behind my house. Then, when Dalmys showed up at around 2:00 p.m., they worked from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. --- so about 4-5 hours of work, total. On 3/30/22, the guys showed up in the morning and worked less than 2 hours. On 3/31/22, I was informed that no work would be done due to an inspection that day. I was never informed of the result of the inspection and had to inquire repeatedly to get information, and also had to look up the building permit online myself when the contractor declined to provide it. On 4/1/22, I was told the guys wouldn't be coming "due to rain." It sprinkled that day. Dalmys removed some of the siding from my house and stated this would increase the project cost by $1,800. Ana stated it would increase by about $1,340. At no point was the dumpster I was billed over $1,000 for provided. It is now week 2 of the project, which I was told initially would take "1 week" to complete, and today (4/4/22), no workers showed up. Photos attached show the state of my back deck since last 3/30/22.
