Instead of billing my insurance, they billed me directly. They will not remove the collection from my credit report and they refuse to work with me as I try to provide them the insurance info again. They told me that MassHealth wouldnt cover the procedure at the time because I had other insurance, but that is simply untrue. I had gotten a new job in November 2020 which offered insurance. I signed up for that insurance to take effect January 2021. The procedure happened in 2020- which means I was insured with MassHealth through the end of 2020, until January 1st 2021 when my new insurance started. MassHealth is therefore responsible. I am not responsible for this bill regardless, as I have never been uninsured. The office is now telling me they cannot bill either insurance company, as it is too late. This is simply not true. If I was insured at the time of the procedure, the insurer I had at that time (MassHealth) is required to pay, regardless of the amount of time that has passed. Every notice they sent me informing me of the issue was not sent to me, but was instead sent to my father who shares the same name as me, who I have never lived with. Of course Im going to catch it too late if you send the bill to every address except my own.It is not my fault that mishaps are happening behind the scenes without my knowledge, which then caused this bill to go on my credit report. I need the debt collector, medical office, and insurance to get together and hash it out. They need to figure out who is responsible for the bill amongst themselves because it is not me. This is not my mistake and I will not continue to pay the consequences of it any longer. This nonsense started the day of that dentist appointment and has since not stopped. If the collection is not removed from my credit report promptly, me and my lawyer will be putting all our evidence together and taking legal action.
