Quoted me for chimney liner installation on 11/23/2021. Paid by check 11/23/2021 so he could order material. $1,800 total for material and labor. Liner could not be completed until my gas boiler was completed in 2023. Stayed in contact over the years and he was responsive. When it came time to install my liner in 8/2023 he came up with multiple excuses that he could not schedule, then it was family health issues, then it was his health issues, then it was ok i'll give you a refund, then it was i'll drop of the check, then it was my wife will mail it out, here we are in February 2024. Still no refund but he is still responsive. I told him he could pay it back in small amounts, still nothing. I told him he could give me the liner that i already paid for and he did not have that either.Initial Complaint

I hired Russ to repair my concrete stairs which were crumbling and cracking and he was also going to resurface them. The job was completed on Aug. 13th by one of his associates Keith. When the job was completed and dried, I was very happy with the outcome. Then it rained, a few days after that, the rain deteriorated the surface of the stars into blotches and cracks. The stairs look terrible they look like they are in need of work. Since the first call I put into Russ we have had many texts. He told me he would repair them but not saying when, he told me he brought the materials. He told me he was waiting for a few days with no rain, he once gave a date of Aug. 20th to repair them he was a no show. He has given many excuses; he was having problems mechanically and personally-he was short on help. Once he said he was going to a funeral and sent me the man's obituary. This has been over 2 months I do not believe he has any intention of repairing them. All I want is to have him come and repair the work. I also want to add he said he would guarantee for 20 years.Initial Complaint

I hired Russ to do a FULL repoint of my chimney from the roof up as well as a cap and cleaning. I have a deposit of half, that day the work was to be completed. I was told the work was done and that I should leave the second half of the money for him to pick up the next morning. I looked in my chimney and it wasn't clean, I then looked at the chimney and told him it didn't look like a complete repoint was done. At this point he said he would have it completed. He send a pic of the front of the chimney and said the work was done so I paid the remaining balance. The next time it rained water was coming in so I contacted him again at which time he told me that we never agreed on a full repoint and proceeded to send me a pic of a fraudulent receipt... Not knowing I have the carbon copy of the original. Then said he made 2 and showed me another picture of a different receipt. When I screenshot the text of his picture and admitting that a FULL repoint was done he stopped communication. I have proof that a full repoint was agreed on and he said was completed. He ignores every message I send now and his resolution to the water leaking is a tarp on my chimney.Initial Complaint

I paid R*** Kennedy, Co-Owner of Kennedy and Associates $6000 on 7/27/2021, which was 50% deposit to reface my existing fireplace, including repairing the stairs that lead to a loft area in my secondary home located in Spencer, MA. Since 7/27/2021, R*** Kennedy has yet to complete the job and the work that was done (hearth), was done incorrectly and not up to code; therefore the wood burning insert is not able to be installed legally. R*** was provided the required measurements prior to the hearth being worked on, yet the hearth was installed 3 inches shy of the code requirement. R*** has not returned to the property to repair the incorrect hearth, nor has he provided any materials (stone). As previously mentioned, the receipt for the job included R*** to repair the stairs leading to the loft. R***'s associates repaired three missing steps, but in doing so, they removed the rug treads in the steps, which are no where to be found. There have been text conversations about the work that has been done, the work that was done incorrectly and R*** and I agreeing that he return $5000 of the $6000 deposit, which covers the labor and materials of the job that has been Completed. R*** agreed to pay the $5000 and was to do so by 1/14/22. R*** sent me a check for $100. R*** hasn't provided a date that he plans to return the money in full.
