Bernie B***** from Jericho Builders was contracted to build a duplex home. He gave a price and completion date that was about 10 months. Around the time of signing the contract the other reviewer above had his bad experience with Jericho and there was an article in the paper about the contractor taking the money and not finishing the job. I asked Bernie B***** about this and he blamed it on the homeowner and because I had used him in the past I went forward with him despite warnings from others in the trades of this type of behavior from Jericho. Bernie had difficulty from the beginning getting contractors to work for him and he never worked a full day and if he did show up it was only with a helper. Days and months would go by without anyone showing up. When he did show up it was for more money. Once paid a draw he would disappear and go work on another job. He had a payment schedule in his contract but submitted an invoice for $30,000 as if it was a scheduled payment which it was not. I never thought that he would do that and trusted him so I never verified the payment schedule. The house was started in October 2020 and was to be finished in July of 2021. July came and the house was only framed. He then told me August then October and in between these time all he had was one guy doing the insulation running back and forth to home depot in SUV to get bats of insulation. October came and he made a comment about needing more money but no work had been done and I was getting contractors calling me because they had not been paid by Bernie for several months. One of those contractors I had to pay out of my pocket and Bernie had to repay me. I decided to cut ties with him in October. Searching the MA home improvement license lookup shows Jericho builders license was revoked July 15 2020 one month before I signed the initial contract.
