We had ******************* come to our home to give an estimate on new front stairs on 9/12/22. He provided a written estimate and we gave him the required deposit in a check of $580.00. He showed up on 9/27 to do some work and asked to give some money for labor and we gave him $200 cash which he wrote a receipt for. He showed up again on 10/5/22 saying he had to buy some materials and asked for some more money. We were hesitant but gave him $100 for labor and $75 for materials in cash. Since then he has not been back to our home. We tried to contact him on 10/9/22 and no response. We were getting nervous so we sent a certified letter to his home on 10/20. Finally heard from him on 10/22 and said he would be at the house shortly. He also mentioned he received something from my husband in the mail and wanted to know what it was. We told him that we sent him a letter because /we had not heard from him. He sent me pictures of veneer on 10/27/22 and said he was coming to the house to wrap up the mesh and finish installing it on risers. We went back and forth via text for a few days and on 10/29/22 he stated he was picking up the stock and wanted to get the job done and he would give an itemized of cost. Never heard from him. We texted him on 11/11/11/22 and he texted back on 11/12/22 saying he would definitely wrap up the job this week. It is now 11/30/22 and we have texted and called him several and no response. We have given him $955.00 to date and is not responding to text, phone, email or certified letter. We fully believe he has no intention of finishing this project and we need your help.Contract Date:20220912 Amount of Contract:1400.00 Amount paid on contract:955.00 Date work started:20220927 Date work ceased:2022****

On Thursday, January 6th, 2022 ******************* responded to my phone call with a home visit to estimate the project scope and cost. He gave me a handwritten estimate detailing the materials required and labor charges for replacing 5 interior doors at my condo. He said he would bring me the quote from a supplier, ********************. the next day. He came the following Saturday, i.e. January 8th, claiming he could not give me a copy of the quote from the supplier because it contained his credit card number.I refused to pay him the cost of the materials until I received either a hard copy or a digital copy. He showed me the quote on his iPhone, and when I saw it contained no credit card information I asked him to email it to me. He asked me for a check for $1,871.24 and after I gave it to him he left to cash it. While he was gone, I called ********************. to find out when the materials would be ready for pick up and the proprietor said ******************* had not placed an order yet. I immediately placed a Stop Payment order on the check after calling my bank. ***** came back that afternoon livid and I explained to him why I stopped payment and I asked him to clarify why he hadn't placed the order while claiming to me that he had. He became very defensive and accused me of not trusting him. I told him to come back on January 10th, Monday, with a sales receipt from Chelmsford Lumber and he agreed. He also asked for $300 cash to start work that day, which I paid. Date of the transaction: January 6th, 2022 Amount of money paid to the business: $2,917.24 What the business committed to providing me: Replace 5 interior doors Nature of dispute: I have not received all the materials I paid for, I don't know where these were acquired from, Fraud, Deception, Shoddy & incomplete work Resolution: ******************* has made no attempt to resolve.
