    Nick agreed to cut my lawn for the 2024 season. We also agreed that he would provide a dethatch with the first cut for $300. After the dethatch he sent me a $400 invoice for the dethatch and I questioned him about it. He said it was an additional $50 because he had to cut it twice and another $50 because he had to dispose of "a bunch of waste." I wasn't thrilled with this but I agreed and paid him promptly. It seems to me that he should have realized that a cut plus a dethatch was going to generate a good amount of waste and factor that into his quote. oh well. Nick then cut my grass for 6 weeks with no trouble. I was billed on 6/4, paid electronically on 6/12. Then I didn't hear anything from him until 6/14 and grass grows fast this time of year. I texted to ask if he was coming to cut it and he informed me that he had sent email the day before. He re-sent it to me and it stated that "our business has grown on the mowing side so we now have to maintain a minimum weekly price of 75$." Upon seeing this I asked him to call me and was told "can't take calls." I asked him to call again but when I didn't hear from him for a couple of hours I sent a text saying " so....are you gonna cut my grass today.....for $75? It's been 11 days since you were here." His response, "it would be more," to which I responded "you said $75 in the email." His answer to this was "I don't have time for this." I texted back "Then tell me how much. I don't have time for your games." His next answer was "Find a new provider thanks."I think he did a classic bait and switch on me. First on the dethatching service then on the regular weekly lawn maintenance. He agreed to $50 per cut knowing that he was going to push me up in a few weeks. He waited to be paid for first 6 weeks then informed me that it was going to $75 via email. When I pushed back on him he decided to cut me loose. Most customers just swallow it knowing it can be difficult to find a new landscaper this late.
