I stayed one night at Red Roof Inn, around Sept 17, 2022, while on vacation. They charged my credit card $150 for a security deposit for the room, which was supposed to be credited back to my card within 10 days as long as no damages where done to the room. I didn't receive my deposit back within the 10 days, and called the location to find out where it was. I spoke to the receptionist and she informed me, I would not be receiving my deposit back because there was an empty pack of cigarettes in the hotel room trash can. I explained that was not a reason to keep my $150 deposit, there was no smoking in the room, I simply through away some trash out of my car when loading my luggage. We were on vacation and simply through away a few things in the hotel trash can before leaving the next morning, the room was not tore up or smoked in. The hotel room was actually dirty and a bottle of lubricant was in our bed. I asked to speak to the manager of the location and he called me back and again stated I was not receiving my deposit back of the empty pack of cigarettes. I again explained to him, that an empty pack of cigarettes is not a reason to keep my deposit. He emailed me a picture of the empty pack of cigarettes in the trash and told me I should have used an outside trash can. I asked to get a corporate number or speak to someone above him, he told me they were not corporately owned, they were a franchise and he was the manager, I would not be getting my deposit back and hung up on me. I made several attempts to call the location back and did not get an answer. After, looking online, I found that, they are not independently owned and I called the headquarters in ****. After many weeks of waiting and filing several disputes with them, I still have not received my deposit back. They are still refusing to refund my deposit and I never did anything to the room, I simply through away trash. Can you please help me get my $150.
