  Oaklawn is attempting to charge more (70% more) than the agreed upon contract price for burial of my mother's cremains on March 26, 2022. My Mom died on March 2, 2022. She was cremated. We contacted Oaklawn on March 16 to make arrangements for her burial. Oaklawn requested a copy of the cremation cert which was delivered in person on March 17, 2022. Oaklawn stated they would contact me between the 17th and the 25th to make arrangements for payment. They failed to contact me. Instead, I contacted them on the 25th of March, after all the necessary church and catering arrangements were made. Oaklawn (Pat M******, Sales Person) gave me a contract price of $1070.00. I accepted the price and permitted Oaklawn to charge my credit card. After the contract was made, accepted and paid, Oaklawn attempted and continues to attempt to charge me a surcharge of $650, purportedly for "overtime." Had I known of such a surcharge, I would have rescheduled the church service. However, due to Oaklawn's failure to fully inform me of the surcharge during contract discussions, and after entering into a contract for $1070, and accepting my credit card payment, Oaklwan is attempting to charge an additional $650, and blocking my family's cemetery account till payment is made.

  Business Response /* (1000, 20, 2022/06/07) */ In response to Mr. ************'s allegation's I do have the following reply. The office staff did advise him the cost to inter the cremains of his Mother on a Saturday and made sure that he knew that there is an overtime fee it arriving after 12:00 noon. Oak Lawn Cemetery does not charge a higher rate for a Saturday interment but we do need to have a cut off time as our men leave at 1:00. Mr. ******* had his wife bring a keepsake small urn to the office about 10:30. That urn was completely empty. When I spoke to him to ask him why he did this his reply was so we would have it. Which makes no sense whatsoever. They arrived here at about 12:20. He is claiming that he was not aware of this fee. We tell everyone who will listen this policy that has been in place since I started here in 1990. I am thinking that he thought if his wife dropped off the keepsake urn at 10:30, that he would not have to pay the overtime fee, why else would he drop off an empty container.
