I called the agent, Marcel, for Paradise LLC on Tuesday September 6th, 2022, to send a contractor, Tony, to visit the property I own at *** ********** ** ** ********** ** XXXXX. The switch in the kitchen sparked when they turn it on. We wanted a contractor to assess the issue and provide an estimate. The agent said they will have someone come to the house. The next call I get was the agent informed me that the contractor completed the work. The agent admitted that they did not receive authorization to do any work on the house. They said that the work was an emergency. I asked why they did not call once they knew the emergency to get authorization. They could not answer. They informed us that the switch was changed, and two sockets were changes. However, when we went to the house, to have a follow up with the contractor, the contractor admitted to only changing the switch. We informed Marcel of the two issues we had: one, not getting authorization, and two charging us for work that was not done. Marcel then proceeded to say they could discount the price if we agree to use them for additional work they said would need to be done on the house. We said we could not agree to that. They discounted $200 from the original $798, without obligation to use them in the future, and sent us an invoice the following day. We told them that we do not feel comfortable with their business practice and said we would report them. Marcel said that they do not care if we report them. That we have money and that it would be better to pay then to go to litigation because they will put a lien on the house if we do not pay. Marcel then called an hour later and asked if we would be paying or not. I told him we need more time to make a decision. He then said we do not need more time that they will put a lien on the house.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 26, 2022/11/15) */ Thank for considering our response to BBB CASE#: XXXXXXXX. I arrived at *** ********** ** ** ********** ** XXXXX. As indicated by Chinwenwa ****, the switch in the kitchen sparked and is a, emergency fire hazard. After all, electrical components can cause serious injuries if they aren't functioning properly. Paradise Construction spoke with over three people regarding the needs for repairs. Tony indicated to Marcel that Paradise Construction could proceed with the needed work. We were under the assumption that Tony was the person who was responsible for providing the okay to begin. Marcel indicated to Tony that there was a cost for an estimate, and the estimate would be subtracted from the final cost, if they agreed to proceed with the work. There was a gross miscommunication between Tony and Chi Chi and I am not responsible for Tony saying yes and the miscommunication. I have been a practicing electrician for over 20 years and have provided excellent service to all my customers. I was appalled by the amount of illegal construction at the property. I believe Chi Chi wanted me to come out and provide an estimate, she did not want to pay for, and then go and find an unlicensed contractor to do the work. As I indicated, when I arrived on site and explained this situation is an emergency and the okay was granted to complete the work. It would be irresponsible of me to allow a fire hazard of this property. I am shocked that Chi Chi did not appreciate me eliminate the fire hazard at her property that could have potentially cause major damage. She is demonstrating gross irresponsibility to her property and the neighboring property by immediately not remedying the issue. I was given the authorization to complete the switch repair and Chi Chi should pay for the services
