My furnace stopped working probably due to a fuse being blown after I changed the thermostat. The technician who came to see my equipment agreed that it was likely a fuse as I had pushed some extra wires that did not have a corresponding connection on the new thermostat into the wiring slot. He said I will need to get a new motherboard and another thermostat since he was sure my thermostat was not compatible with my furnace. I did not believe that but I agreed because I needed to get my furnace fixed. They promised to call once the part was in but I had to call to remind them. The finally came in after 4 days with the motherboard and got the new thermostat and came back to fix the furnace. After tinkering around for several hours the and changing both parts the system is still not working probably because they were wrong or may have damaged something else. I checked on the cost the thermostat online and their cost which the claim included installation which usually takes about 15 mins was 3 - 8 times what is cost from other sellers. They could not repair my furnace and are telling me I need to get a refrigerant and do a leak check. I told the technician I could not do any further work to which he said he could not fix my furnace without adding refrigerant and I will need to do leak check before that further doubling initial estimate. At this time my home is still cold and they have charged my card $1348. Their ecobee3 lite cost $509 whilst BG$ had one for $74 and the most expensive one online is $159.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 11, 2022/04/27) */ We went out there on 4/4/22 and we wrote estimates for a complete repair including the leak check on the first visit we he declined. He only wanted to just replace what he blew up and go from there. We do have challenges just like everyone else at this time with acquiring parts and that was the case for this job as well. It is not that we forgot about him, its that there are supply issues especially with control boards. We understand how customers can think they can get by without all of the repairs however being a professional we know he needed all of the repairs or an estimate to replace the unit which he also declined. As far as the thermostat pricing from *** goes they have different thermostats that allow for you to shut down your air condition on high demand days which is more financially beneficial for their company so they can sell the energy to Ohio and other energy grids when they are under load. Yes they can sell you that cheaper because they will make money off of it on the backend. They also purchase 1000's of them at a time and have them made specifically for their needs. There are always reasons why things range in price because everything is not made equally. Our thermostat also comes with an installation and proper programming of the thermostat which takes a lot longer than 3-8 minutes. We paid more than what they can sell it for online so that is not normal to pay more for something and sell it for less and install it and warranty the product for a year. My service manager has already refunded our customer $435 and was very generous so our customer could get it from ***. It is my understanding that our customer was satisfied at this point so hopefully it remains the same.
