In May of 2023 I reached out to ******* ********* *********** ********** following a letter or account statement. The statement stated that I owed $7,781.95. After contacting the office in regards to this amount, I was told that I needed to contact Whiteford, Taylor & Preston as they were the attorneys handling the account. I contact Whiteford, Taylor & Preston and spoke with Annette ** ***. After speaking with Annette I contacted the ******** ******** ****** program for assistance. The ******** ******** ****** program had approved and agreed to pay the past due balance but stated I had to pay a certain portion of the bill before they would pay anything. On June 2, 2023 I paid $3,167.39 via the portal for the HOA. The balance of $4,614.56 was paid by the ******** ******** ****** program. I was in consistent communication with Annette assuring that the balance was paid in full and the account was closed. Annette stated they never received the check. The ******** ******** ****** program did re-issue the check and Annette confirmed the check was received. Moving ahead to current date April 2024 I received a letter from HOA stating that I owed $800 and some change. When reaching out, I spoke with Matt who stated I needed to speak with the attorney handling the case. Called the attorney's office who stated I have to speak with a Lucas. Called Lucas 3 times before he answered. Gave him the case info, he stated he would call me back (Never did). I asked him if I should send him my proof of payment he said yes. I asked him to email me that I may have his email (He never emailed me). It is apparent to me that this attorney's office saw that the previous invoice was paid by DMAP, and that I would reach out again to **** to pay additional money. This is their attempt to extort additional money from me, the invoice had already been paid in full and was confirmed by Annette who I was told no longer works there.
