Me and Ronald S******/Reli-On Remodeling entered into a contract on 9/3/2022 (see contract attachment). Ron maintains ownership of the ink signed version of the contract. The first of three payments was given to Ron on 9/3/2022 for the amount of $4045.00 (see attachments of receipt & check deposit). Ron never disclosed he did not know how to do the project and proceeded to perform it in an unworkmanlike manner, described below. Ron began work on 9/6/2022 and on 9/14/2022, after my concern about the workmanship, and additional property damage Ron and his associate caused, I refused to let him continue working on the project. On 9/15/2022 I requested Ron to pay me the amount of the initial payment ($4045.00) I had already made in addition to extra costs to cover the additional damages he caused to the property, and disposal of the old baseboards that he left on my driveway for a total of $6,495.00. He refused to refund me any amount of money, stating he already spent all of the money on supplies and labor costs. He said, "well, you will just have to take me to court". Unworkmanlike manner issues include, but are not limited to the following: * Baseboards on the staircase were not removed prior to sanding and staining * Floors were insufficiently sanded and did not adequately remove the polyurethane * Some areas of the floor were not even attempted to be sanded, such as the back boards on the staircase * Stain was unskillfully applied onto inadequately sanded floors as well as non-sanded areas of the floor o Stain was applied with a squeegee on the bedroom and hallway floors and with a paintbrush and sponge on the staircase o Excess stain was not wiped/soaked up as the stain was applied which led to heavy coating and pooling of the stain.
